Steering Gear
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors
and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when
removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these
symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
CAUTION: Nuts and bolts must be tightened with the weight of the vehicle on the suspension.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE:

All vehicles
WARNING: Make sure that a new steering column flexible coupling bolt is installed.
Torque to: 25 Nm
WARNING: Make sure that new nuts are installed.
CAUTION: Make sure that the specified torque is not exceeded, or the retaining studs may shear and damage the body panel.
Torque to: 12 Nm
Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF)
All vehicles
WARNING: Make sure that a new nut is installed.
CAUTION: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.
Tie aside.
Bolt: 10 Nm
nut: 55 Nm
Repeat the above step for the other side.

Step 2: 45 degree
Repeat the above step for the other side.
E21 - Transmission jack
Torque to: 45 Nm
Step 1: 140 Nm
Step 1: 140 Nm
Torque to: 10 Nm
