1. What is your understanding of quality costs? Explain.

The quality cost is the expenses associated with producing and maintaining the
product or services to achieve the best outcome of the expected quality .In
simple terms ,the firm needs to invest or give financial support to produce and
maintain the quality of a product or services.

2. Differentiate the categories/classifications of quality costs.


Expedite.
1. Prevention Costs are the expenses related to actions taken to
minimize failures.For example ,Quality Planning is the method used to
ensure that the quality standard reaches the expectation of the
customers.In the process of quality planning there is also a cost during
this process.
2. Appraisal Costs are the expenses incurred to keep product quality
standards at acceptable levels.An example to this is the Check Fixtures,
it is used to check or inspect the quality of a product by its features. In
this type of checking there is an expense during the process of
checking and inspecting the features of a product and that is what we
called appraisal costs.
3. Internal Failures are the expenditures related to issues discovered
before the product or service is delivered to the client.An example to
this is the machine breakdown due to improper maintenance , because
of that the firm needs to fix the machines before continuing the
products that needs to be delivered.By that it is still costly to fix a
machine ,therefore due to improper maintenance there will be expense
needed to settle this failures
4. External Failures costs incurred as a result of defects discovered after
the customer receives the product or service.To give an example of
external failures the best example to this is the Service and Repair
Costs, if a customer request a repair the company needs to repair the
product and it will be costly to fix the damage.Therefore to ensure the
quality of the product there still many things that need to be consider
like the external failures.
3. Do you think the concept of quality costs still relevant today?
Expound.
In my own opinion ,the concept of quality costs is still relevant today
because it can be used as a tool to improve the quality of products and
services we have today.It can help in a way of preventing ,detecting ,and
remediating the possible issues that the products or services may face
related to the quality that the business is trying to improve.
