    Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture bases are commonly used but some patients develop allergic reactions to methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) in PMMA. To reduce this risk for allergy-prone patients, newer denture base materials have been developed that replace MMA with alternative resins like diurethane dimethacrylate and polyurethane to create monomer-free acrylic dentures. These monomer-free acrylics may provide an hypoallergenic alternative for fabricating dentures in patients susceptible to allergic reactions from conventional MMA-containing denture materials.

    Momomer free acrylics

    Abstract:-
    Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base has dominated the market for more than 50
    years. Due to the general increase in patients with allergies, dentists are confronted with more
    patients with allergic reactions to the classic polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base
    materials. For denture-wearing patients with potential allergy susceptibility, hypoallergenic
    denture base materials represent an alternative to conventional PMMA to minimize the risk of
    adverse reactions induced by residual methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA). The MMA has
    been replaced by presumably hypoallergenic resins, such as diurethane dimethacrylate,
    polyurethane, polyethylene terephthalate .This poster discusses about monomer free acrylics
    and how dentures are fabricated using the same.
