UI/UX Design
(Draft/original text)

UI/UX design is the latest profession in this era. This profession has been around since
the 20s. These two things have a different job description. UX design refers to the term “user
experience design”, while UI stands for “user interface design”. Both of these jobs have to make
a product and they work closely together. UX design is to make physical and digital products.
UX design is focused on the user’s first contact to the last. Meanwhile, UI design is designing the
aesthetic experience of a product but the product is only a digital product such as typography,
color palettes, buttons, animations, and imagery. UI design is only to delight the users
aesthetically.

UI/UX design can create a variety of work. Included in the work of UI/UX designers are
website designs, landing pages, app, software, and game designs, voice designs, and Augmented
Reality (AR) designs. Website design is a job that designs a webpage as appealing as possible so
that people are interested in seeing and reading the website. In addition for being appealing,
UI/UX designers also need to design the website so that it is easy to use by many audiences. Just
like website design, a landing page is an interactive page that has the ability to change the
original purpose of support. Those who initially just look around become interested in buying the
items as they see. The most widely known UI/UX design job is application, software, and game
design. This job requires a high ability to think creatively so that people who use the app are
interested in exploring the features in the application. UI/UX design must also be able to
organize the game mechanics that will be released, must have prepared an interesting but simple
game story script. There is also the work of designing voices, which is the same as Apple’s Siri
who can perform common tasks, such as opening applications, calling contacts, finding the
location of the destination, and you can also joke with it. The last one is augmented reality or we
can call it as AR. AR is a type of technology that combines physical objects in the real world
with computer-generated animations, images, and sounds. Without going to the store, we can
already know the quality of the goods.

As you can see those products that are made by UI/UX designers are challenging because
you need extra creativity and a powerful mind to make an attractive website, software, games,
and more. A UI/UX designer must have at least five skills specifically visual and aesthetic design
skills, understanding of user experience, prototyping and interactive design capabilities, design
psychology, publications and collaborations. In visual and aesthetic design, understanding of user
experience, prototyping, and interactive design capabilities, you have to master combining
elements such as color, typography, and interactive layout that make the user mesmerized. Before
releasing the designs, we have to be smart in publishing the design and this is includes
marketing. Apart from that, collaboration with other colleagues in making prototypes is very
necessary because the input provided is very useful in making designs and prototypes.
Because this job requires a high level of creativity and thinking, therefore the
appreciation we get from the company is also very big. In Indonesia, the average salary for being
a UI/UX designer is differentiated based on the level of performance and length of years of work.
Newbies (fresh graduates) will get 4,5-6 million/month. Intermediate (>2 years of working) will
get 6-10 million/month. Professional (>6 years of working) will get 10-20 million/month. In fact,
if you work incredibly, you will earn more than that per month. Therefore, this work is not only
very necessary but it pays off in extraordinary amounts.
