Talgo technology advantages
LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION

ADVANTAGES

• Lower traction cost

• Higher acceleration
• Lesser number of axles
and wheels

ARTICULATED UNION BETWEEN CARS

ADVANTAGES

• Better dynamic behavior

and comfort
• Lower floor
• Lesser number of axles
and wheels
Talgo technology advantages

GUIDED AXLES INDEPENDENT WHEELS

ADVANTAGES

• Reduces wheel/ rail lateral

contact forces: Track friendly
• Reduces wheel wear
• Reduces rolling noise
Talgo technology advantages
ADVANTAGES
• Zero energy consumption
• Maximum reliability due to its simplicity
NATURAL TILTING • Improved passenger comfort
• No additional investment on infrastructure needed
• Higher speed in curves
Talgo technology advantages

LOW FLOOR

ADVANTAGES

• Accessibility
• In case of emergency,
passengers are evacuated in
1 min (TSI requirement, less
than 3 minutes)

TSI standard platform height

760 mm Direct access from the platform to the
train
550 mm Only one step required for boarding
Talgo AVRIL

 AVRIL is the new Talgo Very High Speed Train

 Speeds up to 380 kmph
 With all the advantages of the Talgo Technology
 AVRIL is a wide body train: 3200 mm in UIC 505 gauge
 High Capacity Train: 3+2 configuration
Talgo AVRIL main characteristics

Track gauge Fixed: 1435 mm

Variable gauge: high speed standard gauge/
conventional track gauge
Length 200 m/ 400 m in single/ double
Design speed 380 Km/h (fixed gauge)
Design lateral acceleration in curves 1,0 m/s2

100% low floor 779 mm height

Number of axles 21
Number of motorized axles 8
Full load weight 357 tons
Nominal power 8,8 mW (two powerheads, 4,4 mW each one)

Supply voltage 25 KV 50 Hz/ 3 KV DC/ 1,5 KV DC

AVRIL: Low energy consumption

Optimization of energy consumption

• Lightweight train – Avril is 20% lighter than the other high speed trains:
• Low energy consumption for acceleration and decceleration
• Less impact in infraestructure

• Optimization of the aerodynamic coefficient with the improved frontal nose

in the motor head.

• Optimization of the consumption of the auxiliary equipments.

• REGATO, Intelligent automated system of driving: improvement around 10‐

20% in terms of maximum traction power.

• High Passenger Capacity: lower energy cosumption per passenger.

Talgo AVRIL interior design

• 3+2 configuration in tourist class.

• 600 seats/train in high density configuration.
• 500 seats/train in standard configuration (firts class/ tourist class).

Wide body coach: High capacity at same floor level

Passenger capacity

• 1 END TOURIST CAR, 2 WC: 59 seats

• 4 INTERMEDIATE CARS, 2 WC: 49 seats
• 5 INTERMEDIATE CARS, NO WC: 54 seats
• 1 PANTRY CAR+PRM: 11 seats
• 1 END FIRST CLASS, 2 WC: 48 seats

3 + 2 configuration allows major flexibility during operation

Different seats configuration depending on the
requirement:
 Individual passenger
Flexibility  Couples
 Groups of 3
 6 members families

Usually, operator only use central seat if occupancy is

greater than 80%
Compatibility with signalling systems

Fully equipped with all the signalling and communications systems

Possibility of use all the existing signalling systems in the market as per operator
requirements:

• Train – Earth communication equipment

• GSMR
• ERTMS
• DIGITAL ASFA
• LZB
• KVB / TVM
• RPS “CROCODILE”
