POSITION PURPOSE
The Education Advisor reports on matters relating to the management and administration of Primary and
Secondary Schools’ Education. Head Teachers, Principals and other District teachers report to the
incumbent on the same.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key responsibility areas, working with relevant
staff in accordance within legislative requirements to meet the needs of the respective Divisional/District
Office.
1. Provide professional guidance and administrative support to district office.
2. Responsible in facilitating the transfer of teachers.
3. Coordinating and organising workshops and seminars for heads of schools and teachers.
4. Handling and resolving grievances and conflicts in school within the industrial framework.
5. Liaise with school management on matters pertaining to school organisation and relations.
6. Strengthening of the teaching of moral values and virtues in school.
7. Conducting monitoring and evaluation in schools as well as community awareness programs.
8. Manage Fiji Education Management Information System (FEMIS) update at district level.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
1. Monthly submission of reports of data, (Primary/Secondary) activities conducted and evidence of
developed resources to relevant authorities.
2. Support, advice and mentoring are provided to all School Heads and all teachers as required and
weekly reports submitted to Senior Education Advisors.
3. Ensure all district schools student improvement strategies are well planned, implemented and
evaluation is both normative and summative. A Monthly report is forwarded to Senior Education
Advisor on implementation and strategies.
4. Monitor and update senior staff at headquarters that schools day to day operations are smooth and
efficient resulting in an effective and safe educational environment for the school community.
Include matters of concern in monthly reports.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Bachelors of Education and/or relevant work experience. Valid Fiji Teachers Registration Authority (FTRA)
registration may be required before taking up this role.

The Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to successfully undertake this role are:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

1. Atleast 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar position.


2. Experience in providing professional guidance and administrative support;
3. Demonstrated ability in applying change management strategies; and
4. Capacity to develop and maintain an organisational culture based on ethical, professional and
personal behaviours and corporate values.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Ability to understand the complexities of the school transfers;


2. High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively on educational and other
issues with the wider community, educational leaders and teachers;
3. Ability to work within tight timelines in a resource constrained environment;
4. High level of problem solving skills;
5. Ability to compile and interpret relevant data; and
6. Service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational/corporate environment
of the organisation.

PERSONAL CHARACTER AND ELIGIBILITY


All applicants for employment must be Fijian Citizen, under age 55, with personal character and
background that demonstrates a commitment to the Public Service Values and Code of Conduct. The
