ADVANTAGES:

1) Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Park Bahawalpur – The Largest Solar Power

Plant
2) Special economic zones where companies can enjoy business incentives
and tax holidays.
3) 2.5% projected annual growth for Pakistan via CPEC
4) Removal of poverty
5) 2,000 km of rail and road networks connecting Kashgar, China to Gwadar,
Pakistan
DISADVANTAGES:
1) MANUFACTURING SECTOR:
This factor will face a high pressure due to an increase in competition from
Chinese manufacturing firm. Several Chinese brands of each firm will be floating
in Pakistan.
2) CULTURAL ISSUES:

Over the years, Pakistan culture is rigid to accommodate other cultures. The
inflow of Chinese people can create friction among cultures.

3) A THREAT TO ENVIRONMENT:

over 70,000 trucks will pass through Gilgit-Baltistan region on daily basis that will
cause the emitting of large amount of carbon. The government will also lay
railway tracks in this mountainous area by building several tunnels that will likely
cause landslides and might disturb the region’s ecological balance.

CHALLENGES:
1) • Modernize infrastructure and remove critical bottlenecks within it which
constrain long-term growth and development.
2) Connect major economic regions of Pakistan to reduce regional economic
development gaps through the emergence of nodal cities as interconnective
engines of growth.
3) Upgrade the level of development, particularly at the provincial government
level, with the input of Chinese aid, technical assistance, and investment.
4) Upscale investment relations with China to promote export of goods and
services to China, grow our industry and employment, and strengthen and form
new industry clusters; with the objective of initiating a sustainable high-growth
trajectory to promote food, water, and energy security, thus leading to the
improved quality of life of the people, and contributing to the promotion of peace
and stability in the region.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) Government and all the provinces should work jointly for the commercial,
economic and cultural development as well as peaceful environment in the
country.
2) The Pakistani government should provide full support and assistance to
foreign workers of different CPEC projects.
3) The government should provide security to the foreign workers on different
projects of CPEC.
4) The government should not delay work on CPEC because it can provide
space to the terrorists and militants to create hurdles in the smooth
construction of this project.
5) More training at all levels for CPEC projects and programs should be
provided, so that more Pakistanis are progressively employed and develop
capabilities to use at home and abroad, as happened when thousands of
engineers and technicians were trained by the erstwhile USSR to establish
and run the Karachi Steel Mills in the 1970.
CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, in terms of impact and acceptability, the advantages of CPEC will be

recognized and acknowledged by the people of Pakistan when they can see and
progressively experience the benefits. Benefits in terms of more jobs, and an
economy which is delivering and thereby improving their quality of life and
expanding opportunities for them and their children. Pakistani nation is sure that
this shall be the outcome. But to reach this national objective we need to identify
both external and internal challenges, a step that is imperative to work at
overcoming them.
