IODIDE TRACER TEST INSTRUCTION

1. Calibration Standards:

Iodide standard solutions are supplied as follow :

n 250 ml of 100 ppm Iodide Standard

n 250 ml of 10 ppm Iodide Standard
n 100 ml of 1000 ppm Iodide standard is also supplied for extra preparation.
n 100 ml of NaNO3 5 M (Ion Strength Adjustor)

If needed, standard solutions can be prepared by dilution, 100 ppm and 10 ppm, from
1000 ppm standard.
On preparation add to each standard 0.5 nil of NaNO3 5 M.

Bottles should be stored in a dark area.

2. Electrode Preparing:

n Ion-selective Electrode: take the protection cap off the electrode (black cap).
n Use syringe to add filling electrolyte solution into the electrode via the small
opening on the side of the electrode (just above the white marking). Make sure that no
spilling is done while filling.

n I bolding the electrode vertically, apply a light down pressure on the white cap (do
not turn the white cap), allowing a very small amount of electrolyte to exit from the
bottom junction to enable the sensor wetting.

3. Calibration Procedures:

Two point calibration:

n Dip the Electrode into a 50 ml beaker with 25 ml of 10.0 ppm iodide standard
solution. Swirl gently the electrode in the solution.
n Turn on the instrument and set it in ppm mode pressing the MODE key. Pres
CAL key to enter into calibration mode.
n The display shows "CA" momentarily followed by "0.1" flashing. Using ♦ or ♦
key, select "10.0" ppm option.
 Press ENTER key and the displayed value shows corresponding measured mV
reading that is equivalent to 10.0 ppm. Allow the reading to stabilise.
 Press ENTER key to confirm 1`` point calibration (e.g. 10.0 ppm) and the display'
will show the next calibration option, 100.0 ppm. Rinse the electrode with distilled water
and dry it up.
n Pour, into a 50 ml beaker, 25 ml of 100.0 ppm Iodide standard solution.
Swirl gently the electrode in the solution.
n Press ENTER key and the displayed value shows corresponding measured mV
reading that is equivalent to 100.0 ppm. Allow the reading to stabilise.
