The Ultimate Question

or Why It’s Important to Know Yourself

Know Thyself.
-Socrates
In the Oracle of
Delphi, it was
prophesized that
“Socrates is the wisest
man in Athens.”
However, he disagreed in the
oracle because...
In the mind of
Socrates,
one could not
know anything
without
knowing one’s
self.
He is pertaining
to
“self-mastery.”
The question now is,
“Who am I?”
Huxley
“If most of us remain
ignorant of ourselves, it is
because self-knowledge is
painful and we prefer the
pleasures of illusion.”
–Aldous Huxley
We can simply answer this
question by filling out the
spaces in our biodata or
making a resume.

“We come to know

ourselves objectively.”
I am more than
those sheets of
paper!
“We must know
ourselves
subjectively.”
What were written
in those papers are
also facts.
They can tell
something about
ourselves too.
Higit na higit pa
ako sa mga
nakasulat sa papel
na iyon.
Lampas na lampas
pa ako sa mga iyon.
Ito ay dahil tayo ay umiiral. At sa patuloy nating
pag-iral, lalong nagiging makabuluhan ang ating
buhay na kung saan mas nakikilala natin ang
ating
pag-katao.
Each day is a big
opportunity to
know ourselves
better by means
of reflecting in
our human
experience and
existence.
For Improvement
It is only through the knowledge of
ourselves that we can begin our own
improvement.
We do all of this so that we might
better ourselves: our perspectives, our
choices, our dreams.
It is because
“philosophy is the
critical reflection
of our day-to-day
experiences.”
Ang buhay na
hindi sinasaliksik
ay hindi
buhay-tao.
The question “Who am I?” is
the most important
existential question a man
must ask himself.

It is a question that lasts as

long as we exist in this
world.
Only the reality o
death hinders us t
ask the ultimate
question, “Who a
I?”
Reflecting on this
question is an
attempt to have a
better
understanding of
the
meaningfulness of
our existence.
