To giv e t h is Vi l l a a un i q ue cha ra cter, we dec ided to har ness the elements of


N eo - C l as s ical Archi te cture i n thi s building's facade to exhibit Royalty and
g ran du er effo rtl e ssl y. The Ne o - Cl a ssical Facade is a shell that encapsulates
a ver y co n te m p o ra r y sp a ti a l p l a n n ing that is ver y user-fr iendly, flexible and
p a r t y - w o r t h y.
MASSING
CONCEPT

Initial massing Addition and Subtraction

The site boundar y is divided as per the Local Building Regulations and a huge mass is raised The front elevation of the building is projected on three levels, slightly increasing in the

P u l icat Lake . The co mp l ete d e si g n w as proposed and detailed by myself w ith

T h e o bje c t iv e o f thi s d e si g n wa s to provide a small residence whic h is


p ri m ar il y u s e d a s a va ca ti o n ho me or other w ise rented out for visitors, so
na tu ral l y t h e fun ti o n a l re q ui re me nts of the building were limited.

T h e des i gn w a s cura te d to cul mi n ate the r ic h environm ent of the site as w ell
a s u ph o l d t h e tra d i ti o n s o f So uth- India, thus the planning for this building
w a s in fl u en ced b y the Va stu- Sha stra to provide a spatial planning according
to i t s el em en ta l s wi tho ut co mp ro m ising the func tion.

Sou t h er n I n dia b y usi n g e l e me n ts suc h as M angalore -tiled pitc h roof and a
ru s t i c e x po s e d b ri ck wa l l co mp l i mented by a m inim alistic sk ylight .
MASSING
CONCEPT

Initial massing Climate and Visual Orientation

The site boundar y is divided as per the Local Building Regulations and The massing is then subtracted to provide pockets for ventilation and visu-
provided areas for the built-up for the residence, backyard for farming and al points to get the maximim viewpoints, the longer sides of the building is used
pathway for access and circulation. The massing is then raised for the longer side of the for perfect cross ventilation of the breeze that we get from the lake, the east-
building to face the eastern direction to provide a clear visual towards the Pulicat Lake ern orientation is used to receive early sunlight through a pyramid shaped skylight.

rustic touch to the interiors and conceptualized as a blend
