Alternative
planet?
For as long as humanity has been
watching the sky, we’ve been fascinated
with the possibility that other worlds —
much like Earth — might contain living
organisms. By far, the most fascinating
possibility is the red planet
Planet Mars data
Average Distance from Sun 142 million miles

Length of Year 687 Earth Days

Length of Day 24 hours 37 minutes

Temperature Average -81

Atmosphere mostly carbon dioxide, some water vapor

Number of Moons 2 moons

In general, Mars has highly variable weather and is often cloudy. The planet
swings from being warm and dusty to cloudy and cold. Mars long ago was likely a
warmer, wetter planet with a thicker atmosphere, able to sustain oceans or seas.

Life on Mars may not be
natural, but it will be
technologically
advanced. Technology
will play a major role in
the service sector.

All devices designed for

easy adoption of virtual
reality will be created
People would move to a
world where robots and
the latest technology
would appear as their
helpers.
Benefits of travelling to the mars
Mars is an obvious target for
exploration because it is close
by in our Solar System, but
there are many more reasons 1 Alternative planet

to explore the Red Planet.
The scientific reasons for
going to Mars can be
summarised by the search for
life, and preparing for future
human exploration.

Colinizing
Colonizing Mars may become
possible in just a few decades. It
means that a few selected people
will get the chance to settle on Mars
and to have children. In the long run,
we could build up a natural human
population on Mars and after a few
centuries, Mars may be the home for
a significant number of people.
The idea support
• Musk has long seen a visit to
Mars as a goal. In 2016, he
said he wanted to build a
rocket capable of taking
people to Mars and
supporting a permanent city
on the planet.

• Elon Musk said life on Mars

won’t be luxurious — it will
be ‘cramped, difficult, hard
work
„It’s something we can do
in our lifetimes,“
