USE GENUINE SPARE PARTS
In order to maintain the vehicle's best
performance, each part's quality, material, and machined
precision must conform with the design requirements.
“SYM Genuine Spare Parts” were made from the same
high quality materials used for the original vehicle. No
parts would be sold to the market until they could meet
the designed specifications through sophisticated
engineering and stringent quality control, Therefore, it is
necessary to purchase “SYM Genuine Spare Parts”
from “SYM Authorized Dealers or Franchised
Dealers” when replacing spare parts. If you buy cheap,
or fake substitute parts from the market, no guarantee
can be provided either for the quality or durability thereof.
Also, it may result in unexpected troubles and lower the
vehicle's performance.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
(MODEL VFA, VFD)
ABS is designed to help prevent the wheel
from locking up when hard brakes are
applied while running straight. The ABS
automatically regulates brake force.
Intermittently gaining gripping force and
braking force helps prevent wheel lock-up
and allows stable steering control while
stopping.
Brake control function is identical to that of a
conventional motorcycle. The brake lever is
used for the front brake and the brake pedal
for the rear brake.

50
 CAUTION  WARNING

conditions, misjudgement or improper application of  ABS cannot protect the rider from all possible

 ABS will help prevent wheel lock-up during straight-
up braking, but it cannot control wheel slip which may
be caused by braking during cornering. When turning
a corner, it is better to limit braking to the light
application of both brakes or not to brake at all..
Reduce your speed before you get into the corner.
 The computers integrated in the ABS compare
vehicle speed with wheel speed. Since non-
recommended tires can affect wheel speed, they
may confuse the computers, which can extend
braking distance.

CLUTCH LEVER ADJUSTMENT
The clutch lever free play should be 5 ~ 10 mm.
5 ~ 10 mm
Check the free play and turn the adjusting nut for
adjustment if necessary.

 CAUTION
 The function of the clutch is translating the
engine power to the rear wheel, if the clutch
adjustment is incorrect, it will be hard to shift To decrease free play
or make the clutch plates slip.
 Make sure the shift is easy to be done after
adjustment.
 If the clutch lever free play is too large or too
small, It’s easy to damage the clutch plates. To increase free play

THROTTLE CABLE ADJUSTMENT
Check the following condition and adjust it if
necessary.
 The throttle grip can be operated from close to
open freely.
 Check the handlebar for being held tight by the
throttle cable.
 Check the throttle cable for being held tight with
other cables.

THROTTLE GRIP FREE PLAY ADJUSTMENT

The throttle grip free play should be 2 ~ 6 mm.
 Turn the adjuster for adjustment by loosen the
holder, then tighten the holder atter adjusted.

DRIVE CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
 The drive chain will elongate and slacken as the using
long time passed. So it is necessary to be inspected and
adjusted periodically.
Drive chain inspection
 Check the drive chain for wear and tension. If it
appears dry, apply with a lubricant. The slack of chain
should be 20 – 30 mm.
 Stand the motorcycle on main stand. Turning the rear
wheel, check the drive chain for operating freely and noise.
 Adjust the drive chain if there is any abnormal. 20 ~30 mm Figure 1
