Parental pressure

In this day and age, many parents place considerable pressure on their children
in terms of career, social position, and so on. This essay will discuss the reasons
behind this phenomenon and its negative effects on children's development.

There are a variety of reasons why a lot of parents have the intention to put
pressure on their children. One of the main reasons for increased parental pressure is
the desire for their children to succeed and have a bright future. In addition,
comparison with peers also expresses the expectation of the parents. They can feel
satisfied and proud of the compliment because children 's success is seen as the
achievement of parents' education and their reputation. As a result, children might
devote themselves to flashy accomplishments they may not really care about.

The over-demanding parenting approach might have a range of negative

consequences on children’s lives. Excessive pressure can cause a high level of stress
and anxiety in children. Furthermore, parental pressure mainly focuses on making
children achieve goals rather than making them learn things. As the end goal of
achievement is far more important than the learning process, it makes children more
susceptible to cheating.

In conclusion, parental pressure is established from the hope for children's

bright future and influenced by peer comparisons. Constant parental pressure creates
defensive attitudes in children such as developing unhealthy habits and mental
illnesses.
