Present Simple
about the future: we have the schedule , the timetable
My work starts at 7 am tomorrow.
My school starts at 7 am tomorrow.
My plane takes off at 5 am tomorrow.

Present Continuous:
about the future: I am getting married on the 3rd of November. (100% it will be
done)
about present: You are always/never chatting a lot all the time! It irritates. (with
irritating habits)

Past Simple - we have the certain time! the action was completed!! we don't have
any results in the present tense!!

Past Continuous: also irritating habits in the past


two long actions simultaneously

Present Perfect: we don't have a certain time, we are not sure that the action was
done, we don't have the results influencing the present.

Present Perfect Continuous:

Past Perfect - we emphasize on the gap between two actions in the past
the first one action will be in the past perfect
I had taken an umbrella before I went to the shop.

time markers: before, after, by, no sooner…than, hardly…when


Hardly had they met each other when it started to drizzle.
Hardly had I sent my message when she came.

No sooner had I drunk my glass of cold water than I felt toothache.


No sooner had I come into the flat than the telephone rang.

Past Perfect Continuous:


action in the past was comlpleted
We had been searching for a room for two hours before we found a free one.
time markers:
before, till, until, for, all, since
