PERFORMANCE TASK 3 AND 4

CREDO, GEMALEN L. HUMSS 1102 DISS

I decided to interview my friend Daniel, who celebrated All Soul's Day. Gladly, he said yes,
so we went to his house. At first glance, their house feels like home.

Here the summary of the interview

ME:Can you describe your experiences during All Souls' Day celebrations?

DANIEL:What I experienced on souls day was our family visiting my deceased or passed
away family member and another one of my experiences on Souls Day was lighting candles
in front of the house

ME:What symbols do you associate with this holiday?

DANIEL: Marigold flower, candle and photos and personal items of the person who passed
away. Marigold flowers, particularly the orange and yellow varieties, are commonly used to
decorate graves and altars. They are believed to attract the spirits of the deceased with their
vibrant colours and fragrant scent. Candles There are many beliefs in lighting candles on the
souls day sometimes they base it on the colour or length of the candle they sell. Photos and
personal items photographs of the deceased, along with personal belongings or favourite
items, are displayed to create a tangible connection with those who have passed away.
These items are symbols of the individual's life and legacy.

ME:How do these symbols affect your interactions with your family?

DANIEL:When the candle was lit, we all prayed and one by one we talked about the happy
days and the good things that happened to us when my deceased family member or relative
was still alive and When the photos and belongings of our deceased relatives were released,
our emotions suddenly mixed because of the memories we formed when they were still
alive. Before we went to the cemetery, we bought flowers from the market and when we
arrived at the grave of our deceased family member, we placed the flowers we bought one
by one and one by one we began to share our feelings and love for our departed relative.
Lastly, While we were talking, my aunt took out the pictures of us together and we felt mixed
emotions because in that picture there was a memory of our family being formed and It
cannot be erased from our hearts and minds.
