BACKGROUND

ABOUT

The Rotaract Club of UP Baguio (RAC UPB) is a duly-recognized university-

based service club from the University of the Philippines Baguio which is
sponsored and “partners in service” with the Rotary Club of Baguio North. RAC
UPB is part of Rotary International, an international service organization, that
takes on sustainable projects that range from promoting peace to supporting
the environment and disease treatment and prevention.

MISSION
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world
understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the
support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

CORE VALUES
FELLOWSHIP We strengthen our bond with Rotaractors and Rotarians from our
club and others we meet along different districts, building lifelong
relationships in the process.

INTEGRITY We uphold the honor of our duties and commitments in providing

quality service.

RATIONALE
According to the United Nations
International Children's Emergency
Fund (UNICEF), life skills are a
behavior development approach
designed to address the balance of
three areas: knowledge, attitude, and skills. This involves self-
awareness, creative thinking, and effective communication skills.
Additionally, Albertyn et al. (2004) mentioned in their study that life
skills training enhances critical thinking abilities, which causes further
enhancement in the active role of living, responsibility in the job
environment, and future planning.

As the world is faced with a pandemic, the education system has

been undergoing a revolution, and the demand for quality learners
continues to rise. Hence, our team came up with three different life
skills training that will be both informative and engaging to equip the
Rotaractors and community members with enough knowledge to
work on their personal skills development.
 EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY

Project Horizons: Year 2 is a one-day life skill training program

that is intended for Rotaractors and community members who aim
to develop different life skills necessary for dealing with the
demands and challenges of this ever-changing world. This training
will be open to all Rotaractors and other people who are interested
in participating.

This project will be the first face-to-face professional development

training hosted by RAC UPB after two years of online setup due to
the pandemic. This shall provide awareness of security and basic
first aid skills, effective verbal and communication skills, and
creative methods through a series of publication materials,
seminars, and on-site demonstrations. Furthermore, this life skills
training will enhance adaptability and positive behavior in school,
workplace, and community.
