INTRODUCTION

The ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD-FUTURE

LIFE IDENTIFIACTION PROGRAM (RYLA FLIP) (Jan
25th, 2023- Jan30th,2023) is the biggest and top renowned
youth development program in the DISTRICT 9212
(Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Eretria) and in the
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL.

The RYLA-FLIP will last for 6 days. It will be promoted for 5

months on social media, Rotaract and rotary website, district
media, district magazine which will be exposed to rotary
international and is expected to be given for more than 100
Participants. This Program is organized by Rotaract Ethiopia
which has extensive experience in organizing Professional
and impactful youth programs for more than decade.

About us
Rotary
 Rotary International is the world's FIRST service club
organization formed 117 years ago with 46,000 clubs over
200+ countries worldwide and 1.4 million individuals,
known as Rotarian, Rotaractors and Interactors. Rotary club
members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and
internationally to combat hunger, improve health and
sanitation, provide education and job training, Professional
development, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the
motto “Peace through service”. Rotary is a venue for
fellowship and networking. Rotary clubs have had more than
60 years of service in Ethiopia.

Rotaract (stands for Rotary in Action) is founded in 1968 and it

is a service (Community service, Professional development
and fellowship) club for young people ages 18 and up who
are dedicated to finding innovative solutions to the world’s
most pressing challenges while developing leadership skills
and making friends from around the world. Rotaract clubs
are members of Rotary International.

Rotary youth leadership award (RYLA)

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive

leadership program for young people ages 14-30. Organized
by clubs, districts, or multidistrict, RYLA allows
participants to learn new skills through civic engagement
and personal and professional development opportunities.

In 1959, the state government of Queensland Australia, invited

local Rotary Clubs to help plan an event to help celebrate the
upcoming centennial of the state. Princess Alexandra, who
was in her early 20s was due to attend the celebrations, so
activities were planned specifically for the princess’s age
group.

▪ The Gundoo, an aboriginal word meaning “festival”

or “fun together”, was deemed successful with more
than 300 men and women between the ages of 17 and
23 attending. Encouraged by the event’s popularity
with the young attendees, Rotary saw potential to
create an annual youth program based on Gundoo
which turns to RYLA on 1971.
