the device and help avoid operating errors.
Installation notes
− When installing the device and/or doing any work on it, make sure that it is
disconnected from power.
− Remove those parts inside the unit which secure its components during transportation,
if necessary for the installation (see enclosed information sheet).
− When moving the device from a cold to a warm environment, do not operate it for at
least two hours to prevent possible damage caused by condensation.
− The device is equipped with a safety-tested power cable, which must be connected
only to a grounded outlet.
− Always hold the plug when removing the power cable. Never pull the cable itself.
− Install cables in such a way that they will not be stepped on or tripped over or damaged
or crushed in any way.
− Make sure that there is always free access to the sockets used or to the electrical
circuit-breakers of the house installation.
Switching off the automatic circuit-breaker or removing the fuse inset from the fuse
holder in the distribution box of the building installation or by disconnecting the plug
connector of the power supply cable from the grounded socket in the building
installation or by switching off the ON/OFF switch on the power distributor
− Only use accessories and extension components that have been approved by us.
Nonobservance can result in damage to the device or violations of regulations
concerning safety, radio interference and ergonomical requirements.
− Note that there are only safety extra-low voltage circuits (SELV circuits) if you want to
feed voltage from an external source into prepared cables to install additional
electronics (e.g. connection for an intruder alarm system).
− To clean the device only use cleaning agents approved by Wincor Nixdorf International
GmbH (see chapter "Appendix", section "Approved cleaning materials" in the operating
manual).
Repairs
Unauthorized opening of the device or repair work carried out improperly could
result in considerable danger to the user.

General information
To connect the device, power cables and, if necessary, data cables are required. The
power cable that is included in the delivery has a standard length of 2 m (6.56 ft). Other
ready-to-use lengths of power and data cables can be ordered if needed via the hardware
configurator or must be provided by the customer. For the position of the cable feed
opening please refer to the appropriate illustration in this guide.
Plan a big enough cable duct from the cable feed opening to the connection unit, so that
ready-made cables can be installed. The exit point of the cable duct should be right under
the cable feed opening of the device.
Power supply
The device must only be connected to a TN system. In addition to the power supply for
the device, grounding outlets must be provided by the customer for supplementary
equipment such as a modem.

Observe the ambient condition requirements in the chapter "Appendix", section "Technical
data" for transportation and storage.

Check beforehand if there is enough space to move the device through doors
and hallways.
The following illustration (scale 1:20) should help you determine if the space is
sufficient. It shows the device on a standard lift truck.
With the help of the grid (100 mm x 100 mm (3.94" x 3.94")) you can draw the
actual dimensions of the door and the hallway to find out if there is enough space
for transportation. Refer to the next but one page for an example.
In the appendix there is a drawing of the device with a lift truck on a scale of 1:20
which may serve as a template.

All dimensions are specified in millimeters (inches). The diagrams are not drawn
to scale.
Contact the person in charge of planning the installation to verify that all
preparations have been performed completely and professionally and that none of
the required power and data cables are missing.
General information
For transportation the device is equipped with a shipping pallet which must be removed
prior to the installation.
To move the device only push against the device's body as shown in the
illustration below.
Disassembly
Please return the shipping pallet which is no longer needed to Wincor Nixdorf
International GmbH. Please contact your vendor, if necessary.
Mounting set
Installation on a desk
The CERTO Desktop Model must be fixed to the desk.
Observe the specified maintenance space when positioning the device (see
chapter "Planning the Installation", section "Space required for operation and
maintenance").

• Align the device and mark the attachment points of the device (see following figure).
If the desk is made of wooden composite we recommend that you bore the holes
at the attachment points with a diameter of 2.5 mm (0.1").
1 Attachment points
• Fasten the device to the desk with screws (for material see section "Mounting set").
When reinstalling the power supply unit, be sure to avoid pinching any cables.
• Fasten the power supply unit with the two nuts and reconnect the plug connections.
Undo the nuts (1) and (2) and remove the cable
feed opening (3).
• Install the power and data cables (see also chapter "Planning the Installation", section
"Power and data cables").
Installation on a wall
The CERTO Desktop Model must be mounted to the wall using the mounting plate.
Observe the specified maintenance space when positioning the device (see
chapter "Planning the Installation", section "Space required for operation and
maintenance").
• Align the mounting plate at the wall and mark the holes for installing the mounting plate
(see illustration below). Please follow the international ergonomics recommendation for
the mounting height (see chapter "Planning the Installation", section "Drilling diagram").

"Power and data cables").
Start-up
The service technician will connect the power and data cables.
This check list has been created for all self-service systems. Most questions can be
answered yes or no. Some empty space is provided in the section "Notes concerning
installation preparation" for your convenience if you want to note any questions or drafts.
After checking off all items, copy this list, send it to your head of operations and
make arrangements for an installation date.

Environmental protection
This means that crucial criteria such as long life, choice of material and its labeling,
emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability have been taken into
account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the environment.
Saving energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they are actually
needed. They should also be turned off when they are not needed for longer periods of
time.
