Seeds: seeds are found inside fruits and flowers.

Seeds fruits and flowers have different sizes shapes

colors and scents.

What’s inside a seed and are they alive?

Seeds might look dead but they are not. There are tiny plants inside the seed that starts to grow when it
has all the Conditions that it needs. The tiny plant inside the seed is called an embryo. When the embryo
is alive and the seed starts to grow the process is called Germination. Seeds can live without germination
for years until the conditions become suitable.
Plants: Plants need certain factors to grow well and stay alive.

These Factors are:

Water: they need water to have strong stems and firm leaves and transport substances such as food to
all parts of the plant.

Light: plants make their own food They need light energy for this.

Air: plants are living things all living things need air to stay alive.

Warmth: most plants grow better if they get warmth not too hot not too cold.

fruits and seeds.

Fruits:

A fruit has two jobs.

▪️To protect the seeds inside

▪️To help spread the seeds

In order to do that plants need to scatter their seeds away from themselves we call this Seed Dispersal.
Seeds can be dispersed in many ways:

By Animals:

▪️Animals can spread seeds by their droppings after they eat fruits.

▪️Some animals like ants and squirrels carry seeds away from the plant and burry them to eat later if the
animal does not eat the seed the seed will germinate in the soil.

▪️Some seeds have spines and hooks these stick onto the fur of animals or the clothes of people and get

dispersed.
By wind:

Seeds can be dispersed by wind some flute in the air some have holes and some have wings.

By water:

A few seeds are dispersed by water these seeds have a spongy covering that helps them float like the
coconut.

By exploding themselves:
