 The eleven-plus entrance test
What’s in the 11+?
Thinking about preparing your child to
sit an eleven-plus entrance test?

If so you'll need to know the broad range

of subject areas that they might be tested
on, so you can ensure nothing's missed
out from their preparation.

Unlike GCSEs and A-levels, however,

there is no one 'gold standard' 11+ test
against which all other test papers are
measured.

Your child may need to answer questions Please contact those schools or speak
from up to four main areas: to us if you’re unsure.

Maths, We've added a tick box against each

English including Creative Writing category, so you can track when your
Verbal Reasoning child starts on that section, along with
Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial when you feel they’re exam-ready or
Reasoning require additional study.

The following pages outline they may More lists

areas they need to cover.
Depending upon which schools you’re
targeting you might be able to omit some
of those sections, but we’d recommend
you double-check before doing that.
