Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Power Plant Time Extension

Proceeding 27288
Application 27288-A001

Time extension

1. BHE Canada Rattlesnake G.P. Inc. (BHE), by Application 27288-A001, registered

with the Alberta Utilities Commission on April 1, 2022, requested approval of a time extension
in order to complete construction of a 130-megawatt wind power plant, designated as the
Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Power Plant, located in the Whitla area.

2. The proposed work is related to facilities previously approved by the Commission in

Approval 26967-D02-2021, 1 where January 31, 2022, was stipulated as the completion date for
the project.

3. BHE stated that construction of the power plant commenced in 2020. Twenty-three of the
26 turbines have been assembled and 19 turbines are operational as of March 30, 2022. BHE
requested a new construction completion date of May 15, 2022. It stated that the time extension
request is due to turbine delivery delays because of supply chain disruptions.

4. BHE stated that all wildlife surveys remain current and will remain current until the
construction completion date.

5. BHE stated that it continues to engage with landowners for the duration of project
construction activities and has not received any landowner complaints related to construction
timing.

6. BHE stated that the Alberta Electric System Operator has been updated with the revised
construction completion date and has no concerns.
