Analysis on zack's story

Zack's story written by Abidemi Sanusi centers around the protagonist Zack . As a young promising
man , he's faced with identity issues. This issues causes disagreement in the text Zack he is unable to do
well in life because of the void left in his life. In order to fill this void , he converts to christianity and he
decides to go in search of his mother his hope will later crash as his mother rejects him and zack's is
abandoned to face reality.

The text also reference of identity where Zack struggles to find a position in the society as a result of
lack of identity . He tussle with life loitering like a wanderer , and unable to accomplish his goal. Zack
was abandoned from birth ; he had to be independent .The text expound the issue of lost identity. Zack
finds it difficult to have a place in the society because he does not know his background, until later in the
text when he discovers . Meaning he was rejected by his mother.The text expound the issue of lost

The writer employs the use of flashback in Liberia when he got connected to Grace his ex girlfriend who
aborted three times without his consent . The writer uses Zack as a channel to tell us about the post civil
war era In Liberia , the economic political and social flaws and the text is also a reflection of African
society. This is examplified by Zack's character he also turns down the advances of his colleague Maxine
as a result of religion. ' I looked refusing to acknowledge to myself that he skirt displayed her long legs to

A Practical Analysis of Zack's Story

The text tends to give a review on Zack's story with the use of Form and Contents. Form is the way in
which things are arranged. While Content is what the text talks about. The language is simple and easy
to read ,learn and understand.

The text is written by Abidemi Sanusi.The text show show on how life

experiences affects zack's daily challenges. Kemi and Zack are couples , trying to cope , survive and
tolerate each other , despite kemi's religion .

Zack's story tells us the story of Zack , is an ambitious young man who's facing problems ,like
managing family and finding his identity. Zack is also a blossoming Christian .His journey to christianity is
filled with different stumbles and he constantly questions his faith . He convicted to christianity through
his wife kemi .
Although , zack loves his family , he still feels a void in his life . Zack grew up in an orphanage so we
could say zack lacked familiar love during his childhood , and this prompts him to become an
overprotective father . This parts a strain on his relationship with his wife. Unconsciously becomes a
Christian. The belief affects his life , this is evinced when he rejects Maxines advances in his office . He
also becomes friends with Mark and a Pastor Michael. This people lead Zack and helps him overcome his
marital troubles and personal conflicts .

During his visit to Liberia, zack meets his Ex girlfriend , Grace whom he hates so much. His visits
ends to Liberia ends up futile and he loses his job. Zack's feeling of emptiness makes him go back to his
past and look for his mother . He reconnects with Jack Morris , a man who leader him to his mother ,
however , rejects him. Jack's disheartened when this happens . Zack's accepts his fate and becomes
content with life and family .

The predominant theme in the text is also the theme of identity, Zack was abandoned from birth
which means he had to be independent. He sought to find his biological mother but he got the greatest
shock 'Don't ever come here again', meaning he was rejected by his mother .

Therefore Religion is also a theme in the text it started when he refused Maxine's seduction was due
to religion 'I looked at her too skirt displayed her long legs to perfection' . He started hearing voices
back in Liberia he also mentioned how the voice judged him of Grace and his desires insatiable to read
the bible .

However the theme of choice was also important in the text , it was Grace's choice to seek an
abortion which she feels Zack is selfish and grace also doesn't want a child. It was also Zack's choice to
leave the orphanage in order to become a better person in life. Kemi also made her choice of not sitting
st home as a full house wife an registers Yani T in a nursery in order to focus on her career which Zack
didn't like because he didn't get a good parenting , so he says wants kemi to be there for him.

The text is written in a mediares. Meaning the text starts from zack narrating his story more or
less like an autobiography or a memoir when faced with difficulties human are prone to take decisions
that affect their lives . Zack's decision affected him in a positive way actually , he made him closer to
God and to know the importance of family. Zack had to became a born again because of the love for
kemi. It's also written in the first person point of view. (Because the story's based on zack's perspective
only) . This text is not about Christians that claims holiness as if they've never sinned before.The text
also tells us about the important phase in Zack's life . It further explains on how he became born
again ,he becomes a father and he's also trying to find his mother.

Abidemi's zack's story introduces us to character Zachery who's a controlling , selfish, he is selfish
because of his experience like, he was abandoned he didn't enjoy the joy of motherhood who's
religiously inclined but along side , finds a wife Kemi who helps him find value in religion or God. Zack is
insecure due to the misplacement of identity.
Therefore successful but is still hold back to his past which limits him .The writer uses zack as a channel
to tell us about the post civil war era in Liberia , the economic, political and social flaws.

Zack's story can be said to have two settings . One in London ,where Zack's lives with his families and
friends. While the other is at Liberia , an African country that's just recovering from a major crisis.

is portrayed in novel ,it consists of both internal and external conflict . Internal conflict is within
oneself , Zack had various problems he faced but didn't share with anyone not even his wife , kemi .
Right from childhood he seemed to have been independent meaning he doesn't have anyone by side
made him struggle himself without anyone's support. He had problems of unforgiveness ; he didn't
forgive grace for aborting three times without his consent. External conflicts happens between people.
Zack and Kemi engaged in several arguments on Yani T ,kemi not showing concern for him and focuses
mainly on work .Kemi was also furious when she heard about Zack over meeting with grace in Liberia
