3. Procedure Before Installation


(1) Visually inspect the unit.
(2) Remove the locking tapes and the locking ma-

6. Installation of the Power Cord


(1) Connect the relay power cord included in the
package to the SD-506.

WARNING
Use the appropriate power cord.
Failure to do this could result in a fire or

(2) Serial Number Registration

been installed to the main body.
The location of the serial number is shown in the
photo below.

a) Plug the power cord into the outlet and turn


ON the Main power switch.
b) Enter the Service Mode.
Note:
Refer to procedures in the Service Manual to en-
ter the Service Mode.
c) Touch the “System Setting” key.
d) Touch the “Serial Number Setting” key.
e) Touch the “Finisher” key to enter the serial
number setting screen. (Select the installation
order key.)

f) Enter the serial number of the SD-506 and
touch the “OK” key. (Use the “Shift” key to
switch between upper case letters and lower
case letters.)
g) Touch the “Return” or “OK” key, then touch the
“Close” key.

(3) Importing Adjustment Data


Import the factory adjustment data of the SD-506 to
the main body memory.
If a SD-506 and other optional units are connected,
they can recover the standard data at the same
time.

a) On the Service mode menu screen, touch the


“Finisher Adjustment” key.
b) Touch the “Recall Standard Data” key.
c) Touch the “Factory Initial Data” key, then
touch the “Yes” key.
d) Touch the “Return” key, then touch the “Close”
key.
e) Turn the sub power switch and the main
power switch OFF first and then turn them ON.

(4) Confirmation of Paper Output


Output paper in all folding modes, saddle-stitch
mode, and trimming mode to check the accuracy of
paper folding, saddle stitching, and trimming.
If the results are not within the standard values, ad-
just the settings.
See the Service Manual for adjustment method.

(5) Adjustment Data Backup


If the SD-506 adjustment data is changed, back up
the main body SD-506 data to the SD-506 memory.
If a SD-506 and other optional units are connected,
the data will be backed up at the same time.

a) On the Service mode menu screen, touch the


“State Confirmation” key.
b) Touch the “I/O Check Mode” key.
c) Enter IO-Check <90-00> and press the “Start”
key.
d) Make sure that <OUT:FIN> appears on the
message display after the adjustment.
e) Touch the “Return” key, then touch the “Exit”
key.
