Computer Assembly Assignment:

1. Take photos throughout the process. Make sure you have:


a. A photo before you open the Computer
b. A photo after you open the Computer
c. A photo showing your labelled parts
d. A photo with the Computer back together

2. What did you see when you opened the Computer? Did anything surprise you? Did you have
any problems with the disassembly?

3. How many parts or components can you find and label on the Motherboard (use the diagram at
the bottom of the page for guidance): e.g.
a. HDD Interface
b. Memory Slot
c. CPU
d. Chipset
e. Power Supply Connector
f. Back Panel Connectors
g. Expansion Slots

4. Find and label the following ports at the back of the computer (use the diagram at the bottom of
the page for guidance):
a. Audio
b. Microphone
c. USB
d. Parallel (if available)
e. Serial (if available)
f. VGA
g. PS/2 (if available)

5. Call your teacher over to view your labels.

6. Look inside the computer. Find the type of hard drive, how many RAM and the expansion slots
are there. Be specific.

7. If you plugged in this computer and turned it on, would it work? Would it boot into Windows?
Explain your answer.

8. Reassemble the Computer.

9. Create a report and explain the steps to assemble a PC. Also describe the safety considerations to
be taken during this process.
