Turn the crosshead upwards until the

the mentioned mountings. Haul the
tackles tigtrt.

Turn the crankthrow toward BDC


while "following" with the tackles,
thus coniinuously supporting the
connecting rod.

Tilt the connecting rod towards the


opening in the manoeuvring side by
means of the tackler

7. Dismount the locking screws for the


lower bearing shells. Then turn the
bearing slrells so far up that eye screws
can be mounted. Lift the bearing
shells out of the engine.

Mount new bearing shells in the bearing


housing and assemble the parts in the
reverse order to disassembling.

The exces height X is to ensure correct


tighteningdown of the bearing shell and
MUST NOT b€ eliminated.

4. Turn to BDC and tilt the connecting


rod towards the exhaust side.

Thd crosshead and croshead shoes are


now hanging from the engine room
crane and the tackles.

Dismount the guide strip and shims


from each guide shoe. Keep the
strip and shims together and mark
them for later use.

Full the crosshead ends free of the


crosshead mid-section by tightening the
disrnantling screws.

Turn the crosshead down far enougtr to


give access to the screws and nuts on
the piston rod, the crosshead bearing
cap and the teleropic pipe.

2. Mount four eye screws in the cylinder


frame bonomplate in the athwartship
direction for suspending the piston and
croshead bearing cap. Suspend two
chains from the two inner eye screws
in the cylinder frame bottomplate.
3. Remove the four tightening screws from
the piston rod and fit nvo eye screurs
in the piston rod foit

the hydraulic jacks. Loosen ihe nuts
on the croshead bolts {for operation of
the hydraulic tooll see section 913).
Flemove the hydraulic jacks and unscrew
the nuts.
Mount a lifting eye screw on each. side
of the bearing cap.

6. Turn lhe crosshead to TDC.

7. Turn the crosshead to B.D.C.


Suspend two tackles from the two
outer eye screws in the cylinder frame
bottomplate in the athwartship direc-
tion. Hook on the tackles to the eye
screws in the crosshead bearing cap and
raise it to a position in which it is
possible to check the upper bearing
shell and the upper part of the firrmal.

8. Lower the bearing cap onto the cross


head and remove the tackles

Turn the crosshead upwards until the
. i:iston rod lands on the crosshead.
Ensure that the guide in the crosshead
fis correctly in the centre hole of the @
piston rod.

Remove the chains and eye scre\6.

Mount the four screun in the piston

t3. After assembling the croshead, piston


rod and telescopic pipe, remove all eye
screws, lifting fining, elpports and
tackles.

Self-locking nuts may only be used once.
