TUGAS INDIVIDU
Text 1
The event was relaxed as the speakers shared their experiences and knowledge. In
the General Short Story Class session with the theme "Daring (Failing) to Write Short
Stories", the speaker, among other things, explained how writers overcome writer's
block (writer's block) and how to act when their work is rejected by publishers or
newspapers.
Novka and Hilmi Faiq also discussed how to position and provide context for the
writing or short stories produced, including what kind of sensitivity the writers should
have towards the environmental conditions and issues that occur in their surrounding
communities and how to incorporate them into their works.
In his presentation, Faiq conveyed the beginning of the history of the existence of
short and serial stories in Indonesia, including in the daily Kompas. The publication of
fiction stories in Kompas has been carried out since February 4 1967, which is also
considered as the embryo of the existence of short stories in Kompas.
"Then in 1973 the writer Arswendo Atmowiloto wrote a short story entitled 'Not a
Short Story'. "Since then, other short stories have appeared in Kompas,," said Faiq.
Short stories in the daily Kompas have four characteristic themes, which also serve as
a benchmark for what kind of work can be published, namely raising a theme that is
in accordance with the slogan Kompas, Mandate of the People's Conscience, strives
to provides space to bring out and display the full aspects of Indonesianness,
including raising themes of transcendental humanity, by greeting the poor while at
the same time reminding the rich.
"All writings in Kompas, both news and short stories, contain these four big themes,"
he added.
In the same occasion, Novka encouraged participants not to hesitate to start writing
from existing ideas. According to her, it would be much better if the idea is
immediately realized in the form of writing or initial paragraphs, which can be
improved later rather than just remaining as an idea.
"The so-called new ideas are only a starting point and may not necessarily become a
story yet as they are still random and intangible. So, what should we do when we
have an idea? I suggest noting it down immediately. It may not all be useful, but at
least we have a starting point when we begin," added Novka.
Novka mentioned that there are at least two types of writers, those who are
structured and those who are intuitive. Structured writers usually come prepared
with ideas, writing frameworks, story outlines, and character plans. On the other
hand, intuitive writers prefer to start working on a project while walking around after
getting an idea.

DKPP imposed strong warning sanctions on the Chairman of the General Election
Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari and a warning to six KPU members, Wednesday
(25/10/2023). DKPP assessed that the KPU's actions were careless and unprofessional
in accommodating input from the House of Representatives, resulting in legal
uncertainty for election participants.
"As the accused, I accept it. This is a warning so that I will not repeat it again," said
Hasyim at the KPU office in Jakarta on Friday (27/10/2023).
Unlike Hasyim, the complainants expressed concern and disappointment with the
decision of the Elections Supervisory Agency (DKPP). According to Hadar Nafis Gumay
of the Civil Society Concerned with Women's Representation, DKPP was unable to
work objectively in assessing the facts and evidence when deciding on the case.
"The conclusion of the DKPP Council clearly shows that DKPP is protecting the
chairman and members of KPU who have been proven to commit serious violations
against the principle of independence," said Hadar.
Furthermore, according to him, the DKPP's actions in protecting the behavior of KPU
leaders who have been proven to violate principles of impartiality pose a threat to
honest, fair, and high-quality elections. Therefore, the Civil Society for Women's
Representation is asking President Joko Widodo to review the membership of the
DKPP as regulated by Law Number 7 of 2017 on Elections.
"The President, as the head of government, must take concrete action to evaluate
the membership of DKPP in order to maintain the independence of the KPU and to
realize a fair, just, and high-quality election," said Hadar.
According to Article 155 Paragraph (4) of the Election Law, the DKPP consists of seven
members, consisting of one representative from the General Election Commission,
one representative from the Election Supervisory Board, and five public figures. The
members of the DKPP who come from public figures are proposed by the President
for two people and proposed by the House of Representatives for three people
(Article 155 Paragraph 5 of the Election Law).
The fifth member of the DKPP appointed by the President from the community figure
element are Heddy Lugito, J Kristiadi, I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi, Ratna Dewi
Pettalolo, and Muhammad Tio Aliansyah. Heddy and Kristiadi are members of the
DKPP proposed by the President, while Dewa, Dewi, and Tio are proposed by the
DPR.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The government is trying to strengthen connectivity between
production and distribution fisheries. The national fish logistics system currently faces
a number of challenges, including limited port facilities and inter-island connecting
facilities.
Illustratively, at the Pomako Port in Mimika, Papua, fish transportation is carried out
by transferring fish from the boat to floating containers on a barge. The barge then
transports the containers to either commercial or passenger ships.
Meanwhile, the processing unit at the fishery port can operate more effectively if the
port's capacity and facilities are adequate to accommodate the fish. In addition,
connectivity with fish carrier ships to fishing centers in small island regions is
required.
"Logistics need to be arranged according to the capacity of fish processing. The main
support is a refrigerated warehouse," he said when contacted on Friday (27/10/2023)
in Jakarta.
Berny stated that the demand for fish will continue to increase as the population
grows. By 2045, Indonesia with a predicted population of 300 million people will
need to fulfill the food supply chain, nutrition, and protein, as well as improving its
trade balance. Meeting the supply chain system needs to move storage, distribution,
and reserves.
In line with the increasing demand for food in the country, the volume of exported
fishery products needs to take into account domestic needs. Fishery exports continue
to be driven by processed products that have a higher added value compared to
whole fish products.
