Lesson 1: Course Overview

Activity 1:
Read the LDM Course Overview for Coaches. Reflect on the
overview by answering the following questions. Write down
your insights in your Study Notebook.

1. What are the ways you can prepare as an Instructional


Coach to teachers in the new normal? List at least three
ways.
a) awareness of the school’s chosen learning delivery
modality
b) Knowledge on the readiness of teachers in the new
learning modalities
c) Continuous communication with teachers regarding
the teaching-learning process
d) Foster a professional collaborative spirit among School
Head, Department Heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole

2. How do you think can this course help ensure that you
effectively perform your role as Instructional Coach to
teachers in the new normal?
The course will help me effectively perform my role
as an instructional coach to better assist teachers in
facilitating learning in the new normal.

3. How would you describe the main delivery modality of the


course?
The blended modular and online learning modality is
a combination of modular distance learning and online
distance learning, which are two types of learning
modalities under the distance learning modality. In this type
of setup, students will be provided with printed or digital
copies of modules and 0ther learning resources such as
activity sheets/answer sheets and learning
guides/instructions as to how the students will go about
studying and answering the modules. Parents/guardians
will be informed of the schedule as to when and where
they can get the printed or digital copies of the modules
and other learning materials for their children.
For the online part, this can either be synchronous or
asynchronous. For the synchronous online learning. The
teacher and the students will go online at the same time
and they can discuss just like in an ordinary class but not
face-to-face. Instead, they will use a virtual classroom
through video conferencing, live chatting, or live
streaming lecture. On the other hand, asynchronous
online learning is a type of online learning where the
student can go online in his own time to study and
answer the materials given by the teacher on an online
platform.

4, What are the two support mechanisms that will help you
with your learning this course?
Academic support from other colleagues would be of
great help in learning the modules and other learning
resources.
Technical assistance/support from co-workers would
also help in facilitating coaching and mentoring.

Lesson 2: Organizing your Learning Action Cells (LAC)

Activity 1:
Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell.
Read DepEd Order No. 35, s, 2016. The Learning Action
Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based
Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the
Improvement of Teaching and Learning.

Once you’re done, accomplish the following items. Write your


responses and any other ideas and reflections in your Study
Notebook.
1. How does participating in a LAC influence your learning?
