Fire Razes Four Houses in Ambon

AMBON, MALUKU : Fire razed four houses in Ambon city late on Friday but no fatalities
were reported.
The fire began in one of the four houses and quickly spread to the neighboring homes in
the densely populated area of Skip, Sirimau Kota District, Ambon city.
Two fire trucks were deployed to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze after
an hour. Local authorities said that the fire was sparked by a short circuit.

On Friday, 11 February 2022, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, the Minister of Education,
Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) launched the Kurikulum Merdeka
program.
“The Kurikulum Merdeka has been applied in around 2.500 schools and vocational
schools in Indonesia during 2021/2022 school year. It is a part of the learning with new
paradigms,” said Nadiem during the lunch of Merdeka Teaching platform. It is said that
the new curriculum will be applied from kindergarten to high school. In 2022/2023
school year, all education units may choose to implement their curriculum based on the
school readiness while referring to the Kurikulum Merdeka.
Furthermore, Nadiem also stated that the new curriculum would provide autonomy
and independence for both schools and the students. Later, specialization majors such
as Science, Social Studies, and Languages are no longer present in senior high schools.
Nadiem emphasized that in senior high schools that implement Kurikulum Merdeka,
there will be no specialization majors for students.
