 ABSTRACT
Freedom of speech is an essential human right that is required to be democratic in a
society. It is one of the vital fundamental rights ensured by Article-39 of the Constitution
of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. A controversial Digital Security Act, 2018 to
address digital crimes has been approved by the Bangladesh government. But the law for
nature is currently acting as an obstacle in the way of freedom of speech for citizens. The
aim of the study is to analyze different effects of some provisions of the laws as well as
to work on different directions of security while facing law related fears.
Methodologically, this article has followed doctrinal and qualitative methods and
collected information from both the primary and secondary sources. In various ways the
ratified Act will restrict freedom of speech. The presents in particular a possibility of
serious punishment for simply voicing a belief or opinion. This can lead to violence by
misinterpreting the law and empowering the authority to arrest a person without a
warrant. This paper discusses and analyzes how freedom of speech is threatened in the
current legal system and how prudent legislative efforts will be taken forward.

me indeed as a student of LL.B (Hon’s) (4 Year).
