STATEMENT OF INTENT

All fields are currently working on shaping and saving our motherland, Earth. From energy
optimization to eco-friendly means of power generation, aeronautics to space exploration,
Quantum physics to wormholes discovery, humans are in a race to make the earth a more habitable
system without adverse impact on health. Since the dawn of the space era in 1957, space science
and technology have enhanced our knowledge of Earth, atmosphere, and outer space. They have
improved the quality of life for the human race. In recent years, space exploration has been a major
breakthrough, all thanks to the works of STEM disciplines. My research goal is to research
aeronautics and space exploration which entails Subsonic Vehicle Design, Supersonic Vehicle
Design, Rotorcraft Design, Flight Physics, Aerodynamics (Structures, FMC, Aeroacoustics), CFD
and how to improve these theories for safe missions and exploration of our solar system. Also,
applying the concept of Machine learning, AI, and Deep learning to design systems that would aid
in my research.

Solving problems have always been the foundation for Engineering as a discipline. Engineers are
problem solvers and combining the concept of engineering with medicine to solve various health
related challenges is very intriguing. Applying the concept of Computational Fluid Dynamics
(CFD), Aerodynamics and AI to improving space technologies. While growing up, I have always
wondered about mechanical systems and how they operate. Automobiles, aeroplanes, jets, rockets
and marine vessels has always been magical to me. So, I decided to pursue my first degree in
mechanical engineering which can serve as a backbone for aerospace engineering. Flight is a
cardinal fascination for me and for many aerospace engineers who are awe inspired and galvanized
by it. For me, moving through water is possible without boats and moving across land is possible
without cars, but we can’t fly without machines. We can walk by taking a single step and swim by
holding our breath, but to fly, we have to outsmart nature, which is Aeronautics.

To nurture my interests, I worked hard to secure admission for an undergraduate program majoring in
mechanical engineering at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. I joined the thermo-fluid branch of
mechanical engineering in other to have in-depth knowledge in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, CFD, heat
transfer, and thermodynamics. Seeing the input of engineers in the medical field and how our solutions can
assist medical professionals give hope to diseased patients using CFD tools and, NASA team design various
aircraft and space shuttles gave me a chill feeling in my marrows and kept triggering my urge and love for
computational engineering and flight mechanics. For my undergraduate project work, I developed a single
shrouded centrifugal pump using CFD. I did a theoretical calculation to design the volute and impeller
parameters for construction before carrying out Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS CPD. This got me
more interested in aerodynamics and CFD. In other to complete this project successfully, I developed
myself in CFD, ANSYS fluent, COSMOL Multiphysics, and MATLAB. At my undergraduate level, I
took several mathematical methods (I-III) course tutorials for college of engineering and fluid

mechanics(I-IV), heat transfer, theory of plasticity, and elasticity. I had personal research in the
area of theoretical and quantum physics. I won the award for the star student and most influential
student of the year at the college level. I graduated the third best in the department. Outside of school
works, I mentored undergraduate students and high school students in STEM.

Also, as a tech enthusiast, I got several certifications from different learning platforms to prepare myself
for technological advancements in the field of aerospace engineering and be well equipped to use them in
real-life scenarios. I developed myself in the data science field diving deep into Machine Learning,
Artificial intelligence, Tensor Flow, Neural networks using programming languages like R, Python, and
MATLAB. Professionally, I secured my first job in an EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction,
Installation, and Commissioning) company. I was trained as a Mechanical Engineer working alongside the
disciplines across the oil and gas industry. I learned software like the AVEVA E3D and AMETank.I also
worked as the project controls engineer where I got to know the basics of project management from
initiation of a project to closing.

Carleton University is one of the best schools in Canada and the department of Aerospace Engineering
research programs are top notch in every area of my research goals. I have to commend the works done so
far in the department. The best faculty along with a remarkable lab setting and research team is everything
I would need to achieve my goal of gaining knowledge and reach my goal of becoming an Aerospace
Engineer.

My career goal is to Cultivate the next generation of aircraft designers through an internationally
recognized, multidisciplinary educational program Advance the state of the art in aircraft design through
innovative MDAO methods incorporating system level analysis and high-fidelity physic-based simulations.
To apply my knowledge in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Neural networks in the
neuroscience, helping to solve complex fluid problems as relating to blood flow and brain neural
connection. If opportune, I would like to work with NASA, Boeing or SpaceX as a researcher.

In conclusion, I am highly aware of the superb reputation of your school. I know that, in addition to your
excellent faculty, your computer facilities are among the best in the state. I believe I am a suitable candidate
for this program because my results so far demonstrate my strong work ethic and desire to achieve success.
I am confident that I have developed the necessary skills needed to thrive on the academic rigor of the Ph.D.
program. I appreciate you for taking the time to look over my application and attached documents.
