On The Run

EXT. MARKET PLACE - DAY

EXTREME CLOSE UP
There is a ball on the floor that is kicked.

LONG SHOT
In a small market in Palestine there are little kids playing
together with a ball while laughing. Mainly focuses on one
girl. Jamila.

An adult running a stand smiles fondly at them.

A loud explosion is heard and the ground shakes everything on
it.
The adult's face falters and the children eyes widen and
hands start trembling.
All of a sudden screams can be heard and another explosion.
People start running and screaming.
JAMILA'S MOM
Jamila! Jamila!
Jamila frantically looks around and start running, leaving
the market place and into a neighborhood.

EXT. ALLEY CONT.

She keeps running until she stops in front of a house.

EXTREME CLOSE UP
A reflection of a fire can be seen in her pupil.

LONG SHOT
Jamila is standing in front of her house that is on fire and
falling apart.

EXTREME CLOSE UP
Tears start to well up in her eyes.

EXTREME CLOSE UP
A woman's hand lays on the floor. Limp.
 2.

EXTREME CLOSED UP
Heavy boots stampeding. Military troops walking down alley
way.
Jamila sees them and hides behind a block. Breathing heavily.
Troops walk past her.

EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT CONT.

Jamila digs through the ashes of her house and finds a
potato.
She tried to put it in her mouth.
She winces in pain and pulls it away.
She puts her fingers in her mouth and pull out a tooth.

LONG SHOT
Jamila starts a fire and carries a basket of water.
She boils the water and puts the potato in.
The water splashes on her and burns her hand.
She holds it to her mouth.

MIDDLE SHOT
She eats in silence until she starts to shiver.
She hears footsteps so she runs to a tree.
She climbs up and watches someone cross under her, looking
for something.
She then gets settled on the tree and sleeps.

EXT. TREE - DAY CONT.

EXTREME CLOSE UP
Sunlight hits Jamila's eye and flinches awake.
Her hand flips and she falls from the tree.
 3.

She holds her leg in pain as it starts to bleed.

She limps to the base of the tree and falls asleep again.
CUT TO:

EXT. TREE - DAY CONT.

She is still asleep on the base of the tree except she
visually older.
Jamila wakes up and she begins grabbing materials as if it is
a routine.

EXT. MARKET PLACE - DAY

She sneaks into the market place and pretends to be of the
people who took her home.
She carefully steals a piece of bread from someone's cart.
She isn't worried about getting caught until someone yells.
STREET VENDON
"HEY!"
Jamila looks back and realizes he caught her.
She starts running as fast as she can.
Before she can leave the market place, a group of soldiers
block her way and grab her by the arm.
She tries to break free but fails.

EXT. PRISON CELLS - DAY

LONG SHOT
She is thrown into a cage with a few older women.
The women rush to her and help her.

EXTREME CLOSE UPS

Jamila sees that all the women are wounded in some way.
She opens her mouth to talk but nothing comes out.

She's confused and tries again.
