STRESSORS
ACUTE STRESS

- An acute stress reaction occurs when symptoms develop due to a


particularly stressful event. The word 'acute' means the symptoms
develop quickly but do not usually last long. The events are usually
very severe and an acute stress reaction typically occurs after an
unexpected life crisis. This might be, for example, a serious accident,
sudden bereavement, or other traumatic events.
CHRONIC STRESS

- A consistent sense of feeling pressured and


overwhelmed over a long period of time

-Symptoms include aches and pains, insomnia or


weakness, less socialization, unfocused thinking
EMOTIONAL STRESS

-Emotional stress involves the experience of negative


affect, such as anxiety, in the context of a physiological
stress response that includes cardiovascular and
hormonal changes.
-Take breaks from watching, reading, or
listening to news stories

get plenty of sleep, and give yourself a break

care of oneself with behaviors that promote health and
active management of illness when it occurs.
SELF COMPASSION

-Self compassion is the ability to understand and be


amiable toward ourselves when encountering hardships
instead of ignoring our pain and criticizing our own selves.
