Formal language are written and conveyed according to applicable grammatical rules, sentences are

longer and more complex. Formal language to maintain an official impression in conversations and
serious situations. This language is used for speaking to senior, interviews, business negotiations,
conferences etc, and use this language to write business letters, make reports, make job application
letters.

Informal language is used in informal situations. Informal language can use idiomatic language, shorten
verbs and use popular sayings (slangs). We can use this language when talking to friends, family,
colleagues who are already known.

Example :

Formal : The result are not believed to be accurate

Informal : I don’t believe that the result are accurate

Formal : We regret to inform you that the delivery will be delayed due to adverse weathe conditions

Informal : Sorry, but the delivery will be late because of the bad weather

Format: Do you want …..

Informal : Would you like to …..
