KEYWORDS:

Baptism: Is the ritual through which a person becomes a member of the Church. It involves the use of water to symbolise the
washing away of sin.

Infant Baptism: Is a ceremony to welcome babies and young children into Christianity.

Believers Baptism: Is for people who are old enough to understand the significance of the ritual.

CAFOD: A charity (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development).

Christian Aid: A charity working in the UK and developing world providing emergency and long-term aid.

Christmas: Commemorates the incarnation and the birth of Jesus. Celebrations begins on 25th December and last 12 days, ending
with Epiphany (which recalls the visit of the wise men).

Corrymeela: A Christian community based in Northern Ireland promoting peace and tolerance.

Easter: Celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Celebrations begin before Easter Sunday and finish with the feast of
Pentecost.

Evangelism: Spreading the word of Christianity / preaching the Gospel of Christ.

Festival: Is a day or period of celebration for religious reasons.

Nicene Creed: A statement or belief used in Christian services.

Mission: Is a vocation or calling to spread the faith. The Church has a mission to tell non-believers that Jesus Christ, the Son of
God, came into the world as a saviour.

Persecution: Hostility and ill-treatment usually because of prejudice.

Reconciliation: Coming back together after a failing out, so that no grudges are held.

Tearfund: A Christian charity working to relieve poverty in developing countries.
