Schedule Overview

A project’s schedule is one of the key components of any construction project because it’s one
of the most efficient ways to keep all stakeholders properly informed about all current and
planned project activities. One of the key benefits of using Procore’s Schedule tool is that all
users will be given access to view an up-to-date project schedule at any time and from any
device, such as their tablet or smartphone.

As an engineer, the schedule is useful for providing information on when certain activities and
phases are scheduled to occur on a project, and further reinforces due dates for certain critical
workflow related tasks such as approving submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing
inspections.

By the time you log in to Procore and access a project, the project manager should have
already uploaded the project’s schedule. So when you view the project’s Home tab, you’ll have
a quick snapshot view of the schedule. If you click on the Schedule link in the “Project
Overview” section, you’ll get a high-level breakdown of each item.

Now, let’s take a closer look at what an integrated schedule would look like in Procore. In this
particular example, we’re looking at a Microsoft Project 2013 schedule that was recently
uploaded into this project. Although you will likely have ‘Read-only’ permissions on the Schedule
tool, you’ll still be able to use all of the built-in search and filter options.

As you can see, when you first go to the Schedule tool, you’ll see the current week’s view of the
project schedule. But you can also view the schedule by month, select a specific day, or just
view the current day’s activities. However, you may prefer to use the schedule using the Gantt
chart view instead.

The best way to use the search and filter options is to start by viewing all of the items. By
default, all of the items are sorted by their start date. But, you can use the different filters to find
items by resource, person, or task. You can also use the search bar if you are looking for a
specific item. For example, you may be curious to know when the grade beams are scheduled
to be installed so you know when to do your inspection before they get covered up. You could
type “grade beams” into the Search bar. As you can see, the grade beams are being installed as
we speak, and they’re 100% completed. You can always click into a specific item to view more
detailed information.

Procore’s Schedule tool helps foster effective communication between all stakeholders and
gives everyone great visibility into the project schedule at all times so that they can stay on top
of all project-related tasks.
