Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone, I’m Irish Faye with my members Julius, Bryan,
Nathalie, Rachel, and Kyle. We are Grade 10 student in Section MARILAG, we’re
here in front of you to discuss and explore the important of permutation and
combination.
So when we say permutation and combination what comes in your mind?
Permutation and combination, two fascinating concepts in mathematics that can
unlock a world of possibilities and solve intriguing puzzles. Imagine you’re planning a
party and you want to create different arrangements of your guests at the dinner
table or you want to figure out the number of possible outcomes in a game of
chance. That’s where permutation and combination come into play!
Let’s start, first
PERMUTATION
Permutation refers to a mathematical calculation of the number of ways a particular
set can be arranged. Put simply, a permutation is a word that describes the number
of ways things can be ordered or arranged. With permutations, the order of the
arrangement matters.
A permutation of a set is, loosely speaking, an arrangement of its members into a
sequence or linear order, or if the set is already ordered, a rearrangement of its
elements.
There is a way you can calculate permutations using a formula. This formula is:
P(n, r) = n! ÷ (n-r)!
For our second is about COMBINATION
COMBINATION
The combinations formula is used to easily find the number of possible different
groups of r objects each, which can be formed from the available n different objects.
Combinations formula is the factorial of n, divided by the product of the factorial of r,
and the factorial of the difference of n and r respectively.
The Combination formula in Maths shows the number of ways a given sample of “k”
elements can be obtained from a larger set of “n” distinguishable numbers of objects
Combinations are a way to calculate the total outcomes of an event where order of
the outcomes does not matter. To calculate combinations, we will use the formula
nCr = n! / r! * (n – r)!, where n represents the total number of items, and r represents
the number of items being chosen at a time.
REFERENCE
Permutation and Combination are the ways to arrange a group of objects by
selecting them in a specific order and forming their subsets. To arrange groups of
data in a specific order permutation and combination formulas are used. Selecting
the data or objects from a certain group is said to be permutation, whereas the order
in which they are arranged is called a combination.
CONCLUSION
Permutation and Combination and their formulas, using these to solve many sample
problems as well, Permutation and Combination are the most fundamental concepts
in mathematics and with these concepts.
