The principles of design are essential to the


development and production of clothing used
by individuals and families around the world.
Each principle has a specific role in creating
an visually pleasing garment or
ensemble.
5 principles of design

• Harmony
BALANCE
BALANCE
Implies that there is an equilibrium or
uniformity among the parts of a design.
According to this principle, from the
center of the dress, design should be
identified on both sides.
TYPES OF BALANCE

• Symmetrically or the formal
