Artikel ‘ a’ digunakan untuk menyatakan benda tunggal dan ditulis didepan kata benda huruf
konsonan
‘a’ artinya sebuah, seekor atau seorang
Contoh: a table, a film, a sudent, etc

Artikel ‘an’ digunakan untuk menyatakan benda tunggal dan ditulis didepan didepan kata benda
huruf vokal
‘an’ artinya sebuah
Contoh: an orange, an umbrela, etc

Artikel ‘the’
1. Artikel ‘the’ ditulis didepan kata benda yang sudah disebutkan sebelumnya
Contoh: She has a ball. The ball is red ( ball – is mentioned for the second time)
2. Artikel ‘the’ digunakan didepan kata benda yang di maksud oleh pembicara ataupun pendengar
walaupun belum disebutkan sebelumnya .
Contoh: Where is the book? It is in the living room
3. Artikel ‘the’ ditulis didepan nama laut, sungai, gunung maupun pulau
Contoh: the Caspian Sea, the Nile, he Rocky Mountains, the British Isles, etc

b. Countable and Uncountable Nouns


1. Kata benda ( noun) ada yang dapat dihitung (caountable) dan ada yang tidak dapat dihitung
( uncountable).
Countable nouns memiliki bentuk tunggal ( singular) dan jamak (plural)
Contoh: apple – apples, potato – potatoes , book – books, question – questions, man – men,
woman – women, child – children, etc
2. Uncountable nouns idak memiliki bentuk jamak (plural)
Contoh: food, fruit, rice, bread, milk, music, money, hair, oil
3. Artikel ‘a / an’ dan ‘some’ digunakan pada countable nouns
Contoh: Therie is a book on the table
I often have an egg for my breakfast
I like some strawberries.
4. Some juga dapat ditulis didepan uncountable nouns sedangkan ‘a/an’ tidak bisa.
Contoh: I’m hungry. T want some food
Please buy some oil at the supermarket.
We don’t use ‘a/an’ with uncountable nouns

a. Procedural text
A procedural text is used to tell someone how to do or make something. The text consists of three
parts:
1. Title/ goal : it states the goal tobe achieved
2. List of materials : It lists the materials needed. It often gives detail on the size, color, numbers,
shapes, quantity, etc.
3. Steps/ methods: It describes steps in a logical order to achieve the goal. The steps are often
marked ith numbers (1,2,3,...), letter (a,b,c,...) or bullet marks (*,-,.).
Example:
How to pant Sunflower Seeds (title)
Materials:
Sunflower seeds, dirt, water
Steps:
1. Put some dirt in the pot
2. Dig 3 holes with your finger one inch in the dirt
3. Put 3 seeds in each hole
4. Cover the seeds with dirt
5. Put the pot in a place with enough sunshine
6. Water the seeds every two days. Don’t give too much water.

b. Giving instructions.
Function:
Giving a command or instruction is to tell us to do something
Form:
The form of an English imperative sentence uses the base verb with no subject. It may end with
a full-stop/period ( . ) or an exclamation mark/point ( ! ). Imperative sentences can be in positive
or negative form, and can refer to present or future time. Look at these examples:
