SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION

A Point of Sale and Sales Inventory System for Fast Food Restaurants
I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The proposed project is a point of sale system that inputs orders, modifies order details and sends
it to the kitchen’s receipt printer. This point of sale system will be able to input the time they have
received their check/bill. The system will also be able to create reports such as total sales for the day and
the accumulated sum of how many drinks and meals are prepared for the specified date. The report will
include the number of guests and their total bills.

II. SCOPE AND LIMITATION

SCOPE

Types Of Users:
Admin Level
● The admin will control the user accounts and will be able to create new employee profiles
with their corresponding employee codes
● Can create new products with their corresponding item codes
● Can input the total amount the guest have gave and calculate the change
● Can use the voiding module
● Can use the stock queries module
● Is the only one able to use the sales inventory module
● Can activate and deactivate the POS

Service Crew Level


● Can use the product details module
● Can input the total amount the guest have gave and calculate the change
● Has the access to print out receipts
● Can use the Customer Information Module
Verification Module
o The employee needs to validate their employee code before they proceed to the actual
POS Interface
o Admins need to validate their codes to access commands that are limited to them
Products Information Module
o Menu is displayed upon entry with their corresponding item codes
o New products can be inputted only by the admin
o Products can be sent to the kitchen with specific instructions
Stock Queries Module
o Products can be declared out of stock
o Products can be declared back in stock
Customer Information Module
○ Both users can input the time that a guest has ordered
Discount Code Module
o Service Crews (Cashier) can input discount codes found in Senior Citizen ID and the
machine will validate it and apply the discount percentage based on their ID code
o Admin’s can input new discount codes for PWD and Senior Citizen’s
Voiding Module
o The ability to remove products on the receipt
Sales Inventory Report Module
o The system will prompt the user if they are finishing their service
o Total sales report are generated at the end of the day (night audit)
o Total drinks and meals sold that day has a report that are generated
o Void details are also generated
o Number of guests are recorded
Activation Module
o The manager has the right to activate the POS system using their code and is the only
one able to close the POS during end of service.
Product Details Module
Special Messages / Instructions To The Kitchen
o Messages can be sent through codes such as 83 – Additional || 36 - Rush || 99 -
Takeout
Receipt Module
o The official receipt/bill of the customer will contain all their products, including the
quantity and the price of the product as well as the total price.
o Will show the computed total without VAT and with VAT
o The POS will accept the total that the customer has paid and subtract it to their total
price. Once paid, the bill will now calculate the change and mark it as paid.
LIMITATIONS

▪ The POS Report Generator


o This report generator is specifically made for total sales per day only. Along with that
is the total drinks and meals prepared that day. The drinks and meals are not specified
or identified with their names.
o The report can only be used only for Restaurants that have a wide selection of meals
and drinks.
o The Total Sales Report can only be stored per month (31 days)
o The daily sales report does not include table numbers, only the number of guests
served that day and which waiter has served their tables.
▪ Voiding System
o The voiding system can only remove a product before it has been checked out.
▪ Discount
o Discount codes are fixed rather than varying from different Senior ID Codes

Stock Queries
o Cannot specify how many products are in stock
