The Little Match Girl

The Little Match Girl tells the story of a poor little girl who had failed to sell the matches her father
had entrusted to her in the bleak winter. The theme of this story is about struggle and the
importance of holding out hope in the middle of it. The characters in this story include the match
girl, her father and mother, the boy who stole her slippers, and her grandmother. The main conflict
in this story is that the little girl was forced to sell matches in the cold during Christmas time. She
also had to do so without wearing her slippers. As a result, she had to endure the freezing cold, all
without the warmth of another person. This problem was resolved when the little match girl finally
found warmth through those matches that she had desperately tried to sell. She dreamt of meeting
her late grandmother who invited the little girl to come with her to heaven. And so, the story ended
with the little match girl dying with a smile on her face.

Rumpelstiltskin

Rumpelstiltskin tells the story of the daughter of a miller who was deemed to be able to spin straw
into gold, even though she was just an ordinary girl. The theme of this story is about power and
greed. The characters in the story include the miller, his daughter, The King, and Rumpelstiltskin.
The main conflict in this story is when the miller tells the king that his daughter can spin straw into
gold in order to appeal more to the King. As a result of this, the king of the castle put her through
various tests to see if it was indeed true. Thankfully, the daughter was helped by an imp who could
spin the straw into gold, but for a price. First, he asked for her necklace. Second, he asked for her
ring. But on the third and final test that the King gave her, she could not give anything more to him
and ended up promising him her first child after she becomes queen. After she passed the test and
has a child together with the King, the imp tries to take the child away from her. The queen begged
him not to take the child away and the imp took pity on her. If she was able to find his true name in
3 days, then he will not take the child. This problem was then solved when on the third day, the
queen managed to overhear the imp singing his own name in the woods, Rumpelstiltskin. And so,
the story ends with Rumpelstiltskin dying a gruesome death and never to be seen again.
