Purpose of the Study:
The main purpose of the study aims to assess the effect of price changes of fu
and its consumption in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte. In particular, the variations i
the potential effects among different consumers in the said Location.
Also, the purpose of the study is to propose possible solutions an
recommendations regarding the frequent fluctuation on fuel price changes and it
commodity consumption
Statement of the Problem:
A surge of gasoline price changes or frequent rise of the fuel has been th
worldwide phenomenon affecting the world’s economy.
The study aims to determine the significant relationship between the Price Change
on Gasoline and Consumer’s consumption in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.

1.3 Political Instability?

Research Gaps:
The researcher found out that the study is lack of information and instruments t
be used in the study. Information about the inflation including price changes an
consumption is seasonal because the study is unstable, sometimes it may b
advantage and could be disadvantage to the consumers. The key to bringing dow
inflation in the Philippines is ramping up production of goods, such as agricultur
products, and boosting food supply chains within the country. (Ferdinand Marcos J
2023)
Theoretical Framework:
Classical theory makes a distinction between inflation and price changes
gasoline. Milton Friedman pointed out, Inflation is always and everywhere a monetar
phenomenon causes price changes increasingly. It is fluctuations in supply tha
determine the price level. Price changes of gasoline are determined by real factors suc
as gyrations in the supply and demand for different goods. Thus, in theory, real pric
changes should not affect inflation. Friedman emphasized this point about the hig
inflation rates in the early 1970.
Many studies report that gasoline price have significance impact on determinin
the consumer price inflation as oil is the direct input for many consumer production
and it is used as the direct input in almost every consumer product. The impact of o
price on inflation is in particular very strong during the oil price shocks in the 1970
and the 1990s (Cruz,Ria 1984)
Conceptual Framework:
The researcher presents the conceptual framework of the variables of the study.
The independent variable of the study is the price changes on Gasoline along with th
following indicators:Supply and Demand Impact , Natural Disasters and Political Instability.
On the other hand, the dependent variable is the Consumer’s Consumptio

Research Design:
A Descriptive correlation method will be used in the statistical analysis of the dat
collected. Descriptive Correlational design is used in research studies that aim t
provide static pictures of situations as well as establish the relationship betwee
different variables (McBurney & White, 2009).
In addition, Descriptive statistics refers to information that has been analyzed i
order to reveal the basic features of data collected or used in a study (Fowler, 2013
They provide researchers with summaries and other critical information regardin
study samples and measures. The two main types include measures of centra
tendency and the measure of spread (Kothari, 2004). A common occurrence whe
using descriptive data is the emergence of certain patterns that make it easy fo
researchers to understand and make sense of data. The statistical data can either b
used for further research studies or as an independent entity that can be used t
make conclusions (Fowler, 2013). Certain research situations involve the use of on
descriptive statistics because of the large sample sizes and complexity of data. A stud
that involves the computation of mean, median, and mode would require descriptiv
statistics (Yin, 2009).
Research Locale:
The study will be conducted in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas Davao del Nort
The respondents will be interviewed in their houses or any comfortable place that th
respondent will choose to. The researchers also gathered respondents residing in th
said location. These respondents will be interviewed via messenger chat and person
engagements or face-to-face interviews. Face-to-face interview is the most appropria
technique because the respondents represent the kind of people directly to the stud
The researchers chose the place of implementation because it will give the researcher
the needed information for people who are consuming fuel and in other product
affecting the changes of price.
Research Respondents
The respondents of the study are the primary consumers of Sto. Tomas, Davao d
Norte. A total of 50 consumer individuals responded to the research. They ar
classified as public utility drivers, private vehicle users and household. Aside from th
study’s topic being related to the research, the researcher also wishes to share th
empathy and also empathize about the problem.
Research Instrument
The researcher will use adapted survey questionnaire for the variables to determin
the relationship and to establish the perception of Price changes on Gasoline that wi
result consumer’s consumption. Adaptive questionnaires are a form of survey in whic
the questions asked are tailored to an individual and are often conducted using
computer or face-to-face engagement. Relative to a static questionnaire, the question
on an adaptive questionnaire change depending on who is taking it. (Liven, Nathal
2003)

Statistical Tools
The following statistical tools will be used in the computation of data an

The mean is very useful in determining the overall trend of a data set or providing
rapid snapshot of data. It is an advantage of the mean is very easy and quick t
