SUBJECT: CALL FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS - 11 TH ERDT CONGRESS

In a developing economy such as ours, accelerati ng research and applicatio n of science and
engineering to solve complex problems becomes challenging in the face of constraints in
physical resources and infrastructure. Such constraints and challenges may be addressed
by fully harnessing the power of computation to uncover the information hidden in data to
understand, model, simulate, create, design, harness, operate, optimize, or forecast the
behavior of complex systems or phenomena. The use of "smart systems" - data- and computa
tio nally-driven systems - deserves fur t her exploratio n as a potential strategy to achieve the
various Susta inable Development Goals (SDGs) . The design, de ployment and use of
such systems however requires dealing with massive volumes of data, careful application
design, and the use of appropriately-arch it ected co m putatio nal
systems.

Recognizing the need to share best practices and research findings, and to further develop
the community of designers and users of smart systems, both the 11th Eng ineering
Research and Development for Technology Congress (11th ERDT Co ngress) a nd the
High Performance Computing a nd Networking Conference 2023 (HPCN 2023) are
coming together on November 23-24, 2023 with the following common theme: Smart
Systems
for Sustainable Development.

In lin e with this, ongoing Master's and Ph. D. s cholars , on extension Master's and Ph.D.
scholars, and recently graduated scholars are required to s ubm it a 300-word abstract of
their research to their respective ERDT Consortium University project staff on or before
the 23rd of October 2023. The Notice of Acceptance will be sent out on 3 November
2023. Authors of se lected presented posters may be invited to submit extended full
papers for consideratio n in the upcoming Philippine Engineering journal Special Issue on
Smart Systems for Susta inab le Development.
