Name of the session: Women’s Rights are Human Rights

Reflecting on your journey as Human Rights Advocate so far:

 What did you like about the session? Also share some of the things you learned in this
session that could be used in your everyday life as a Human Rights Advocate.

The panels in this session are discussing the topic of our universal entitlement to human rights.
These rights include the freedom from abuse and discrimination, the best possible level of bodily
and mental health, an education, the opportunity to own property and exercise one's right to vote,
and the ability to be paid equally.

But sex and gender discrimination against many women and girls continues to exist globally.
Numerous issues, including as domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, limited access to
education, and insufficient healthcare, which disproportionately affect women and girls are
caused by gender inequality.

Women's rights movements have struggled valiantly to rectify this imbalance for a long time,
lobbying for legislation to be changed or marching through the streets to demand that their rights
be upheld.

Reflecting on the WLA:

 How has this session added to your journey as part of the Women’s Leadership
Academy?

Program like this is a good information and can be proposed to have more mentorship in the
future to connect with people and to understand what opportunities are out there and which ones
are right for each and every one of us.

Additionally, with programs like this, we may travel the globe to discover and take advantage of
new opportunities, and by pursuing a profession elsewhere, we can contribute to the
development of our communities by bringing that knowledge back home.
