A. What is the primary focus of the topic being discussed?

B. How does the topic contribute to the promotion of gender equality and an inclusive society?
C. What do you think will happen if the identified gender issues are not resolved?
D. What additional programs or activities can you suggest or propose to end gender-based discrimination and
violence against women, girls, and others?

These are the selected webinars that I want to be reflected on:

“The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.”

-Lao Tzu

Knowledge is power. And to be able to learn is a privilege. Universities have been pushing seminars to
students as a way of getting the information out there that they need to know in order to think, reflect, and grow
as individuals. Students are in a great situation to increase their awareness of the different issues that our society
has been dealing with by benefiting from the expertise and experience of experts. Knowledge about violence
and prejudice towards women, children and others, for instance.

Our teacher instructed us to pick three webinars and share our thoughts in this reflection paper. The first
webinar that I selected is entitled, "Strengthening Advocacy Program For LGBTQI/SOGIE in URS". As
indicated, the goal of the webinar is to strengthen the university's advocacy program for LGBTQI+ and SOGIE.
According to the GAD activity's rationale, GAD wants to help create a society that values equality between men
and women in terms of solidarity, opportunities, and responsibilities. Furthermore, webinars on GAD are
components of the university's advocacy program, which raise awareness among important figures, teachers,
and staff as well as among students and other people outside the university. Particularly in the said program,
participants gained knowledge of the distinctions between given sex, gender identity, gender expression, and
sexual or romantic orientation.
The webinar was crucial in increasing awareness of essential concepts linked to gender since ignorance
might result in greater prejudice against LGBTQI+ individuals. I must commend the people behind for having
this webinar. This is the perfect way to spread awareness as a response in existing discrimination and violence
against the LGBTQI+ members. I do not think there would be any better than having this kind of activity where
students and other participants will be greatly developed their understanding in today’s gender-based issues.

The second webinar I chose is titled "Mental Health and "Anti-Sexual Harassment Act" (RA 7877) and
"Safe Spaces Act Or Bawal Ang Bastos Law" (RA 11313)." It has a fairly long title, but its main focus is on
mental health and two specific laws, Republic Acts No. 7877 and No. 11313, which were intended to address
the problem of sexual harassment and to recognize the significance of equality, safety, and protection for both
men and women not just in their personal lives but also in public areas, online, at work, and in educational
settings.

This webinar helped raise awareness of the issue among the public, particularly among students who are
more likely to become victims of the heinous crime of invasion of privacy. Moreover, students are expected to
learn from the seminar and use what they learn to stop harassment of any kind. Without it, many individuals can
experience fear since they won't know what to do and will stay helpless due to the sexual harassment issue that
hasn't been resolved. If they are not encouraged to speak up and are not taught what they should do in case they
face the crime, this might harm their mental health and cause trauma that could last the rest of their life. So, I
am very thankful that they conducted this seminar which discussed how to fight against sexual harassment and
to protect their mental health. This is the best activity we can have since knowledge is very important to face the
enemy.

Last but not least, the third webinar I selected has the title "We Can Create Change for Women-Pulso para
sa Kababaihan ng URS Tungo sa Kaunlaran ". The topic of making a difference for women was highlighted.
During this webinar, we were made aware of the need to seek all avenues for empowering women to fight for
their rights and show their pride in going above and beyond what our demanding culture has set as the standard.
Our advocacy of equality is the finest thing we can do for them. If not for brave women who courageously
battle for their own rights, they could still be on the dark side of the corner, denied the opportunity to shine.
Thus, in order to continue our fight for rights, we should advocate it in all the platforms. Whether we are a
student or not, a professional or an ordinary citizen, we have the capability to spread awareness to everyone
about our advocacy with the intention to achieve a sustainable development.
