Jiboner Jonno

An Organization for Hijra, Transgender, Third Gender People

About Jiboner Jonno

In Bangladesh transgendered people are watched down upon as though they are not human beings
and are treated brutally only because they do not have the gender identity approved by the society
or the government. Although the government of Bangladesh has recognized this transgendered
group of people as 'third gender' it is not implemented even in their national identity cards. The
phenomena are not the same everywhere. ‘Jiboner Jonno’ a non-profitable organization to help the
‘third gender' and trying to change in the Society.

cultural state, projecting the beauty of democracy. He requested the nation not to be secular
towards religion but also to race, gender, language, and sexuality. Finally, we can highlight some
significant recommendations for future initiative:

- Employment opportunity

‘Jiboner Jonno’ believes in holistic, sustainable, qualitative development through upgrading the
living standard and empowerment of the 3rd gender people. we would like to develop society in
local levels. we want to build up a safe & sound community for future generations. Its visions are
economically productive and gender-sensitive. It plays a significant role in making a good citizen.
We dream of a discrimination-free, progressive, and technically advanced society.
About Transgenders in Bangladesh

Transgenders What we call hijras in the conventional sense is also a novel creation of the Creator.
Apparently, they seem ordinary, but they have some fundamental differences from the common
man. The main difference between them is that they are not capable of having children. People of
the third gender are actually born sexually challenged.

Many people look at the issue in many ways behind them being like this. There are many
misconceptions about them in our society. Mainly because of social reasons, the Hijras are
separated from the family in Bangladesh. For fear of public shame, either the parents separate the
Hijras from their families and community. They are the ones who are separated from the family
and He tolerates humiliation. He lives in groups with hijras and lives in a union named Hijra or
Transgender community.
Economic and employment challenges of transgender in Bangladesh

Economic conditions of transgender community in Bangladesh are disgraceful. They are mostly
the poor section of the society, and they lead impoverished lifestyle. They are deprived of inherited
property since they are often abandoned by the family. Their presence in business and formal
employment are low. Transgender do not get equal employment opportunity as mentioned in the
constitution.

Employment opportunities of transgender in Bangladesh

Even though transgender in Bangladesh is having bundles of challenges and social disparities,
there are some hopes of prosperity and welfare for them in future. Transgender are participating
in national election in Bangladesh. SME foundation, Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries
Corporation, National Skill Development Council and Ministry of Industry are offering skill
development program for the transgender, and they are also encouraging trans to be entrepreneur
through financial and technical assistance. Social Welfare Society is giving technical support, skill
development and capacity building training to the Hijras. There are many Hijras working in
restaurant as chef and crew members in Bangladesh. Their performance as beautician in beauty
parlor are also getting popular in recent days.

or hard work. Their return of investment ratio is also very good. As goat farming business
is very profitable.

 Poultry hatchery management

The hatchery business has a few benefits, and they include: It provides income and
employment opportunities. don’t need a large space before you can establish an egg or
chicken hatchery. it can incubate and hatch the eggs of other poultry species like quail,
turkey, goose, duck, etc.

abject poverty. There the transgender living like under the line. Everyone hates them, they have
to beg for money, but no one wants to give it to us, we have to convince them. they have to
explain that if they don’t give us money, we shall starve to death. they are also human beings,
they don’t have any children, so who will support them? No one employs them. The government
promised they would give us jobs and agricultural land, but didn’t receive any of those things, so

Conclusion

Specific Objectives To fulfill the general objective of the Project there are some specific
objectives that given bellow:

 To determine the extent of transgender empowerment in Bangladesh

respect to social aspects.
 To determine the extent of transgender empowerment in Bangladesh
respect to Political-Legal aspects.
 To determine the extent of transgender empowerment in Bangladesh
respect to Economic aspects.

Transgender people are one of the marginalized groups of people in all over the world and in
Bangladesh there is no exception. They are economically concerned. Inevitable factors and
components are preventing them from further economic development. In the context of
Bangladesh, social systems are at the root points of the structural violence. Social environments,
norms, and stigma are pushing the transgender community to the marginal edge every day.
Inequality in power relationships and sociopolitical culture are becoming hindrance to identifying
themselves as who they are). The problem will be solved only when the transgender people of the
country will sufficiently be empowered in all aspects like- socially, economically and legally/
politically. With the passes of time the scenario is being changed and now the transgender people
are being accepted in all phases of the society, state and country. Presently there are many
examples are available that represents their acceptance in the country by the general people. Since
they are the part of our society and we can’t ignore their existence and that is why they need to
give more emphasis on their empowerment to sustain the continuous growth and development of
the country.
