“Christmas Assumptions”

What are my expectations or assumptions rather for Christmas 2023? Well, it’s not a lot.

Before we talk about those let’s discuss first my idea of a “True Christmas”, some say that
Christmas is all about giving, well it may be partly true but its not “all about” giving but rather
just a portion of it. Christmas for me is all about love, friendships, relationships, celebrations and
having fun most importantly, we tend to be materialistic nowadays and can forget that we need
to enjoy the smallest happenings on Christmas. For example, having to spend time with your
family or friends on Christmas day. Not everyone is capable of enjoying that for not everyone’s
situation is the same, but again what are my expectations this Christmas?

An expectation I have for this Christmas is receiving gifts as usual, but not material gifts but
rather the small ones as they are the ones that matter the most for me. I enjoy simple letters or
gestures from the people I love even not on Christmas, the simple updates and asking on how I
am doing. But of course I also enjoy grand gifts, we all do. But given that I am a very sentimental
person I keep the smallest gifts that are given to me, I even have a booklet full of candy
wrappers, letters, and tags from gifts given to me. But I mostly enjoy the simple words, gestures
and letters given to me as I can put them in my little booklet and I can see that they really put in
the effort of giving me a gift and not just buying a gift. But I still appreciate those it’s just that I
appreciate the hand-made gifts more than the store bought ones. Another thing is that those
hand-made gifts are much more put into thought as we know they really put in the dedication in
that gift, not saying that store bought gifts are not put into thought it’s just that the handmade
ones are much more thought about by the person. Another expectation I have is to have fun
with my family as usual it is also in our family to celebrate Christmas all together so I am really
expecting to have fun this Christmas.

We all know that any people anticipate festive activities or celebrations, exchanging gifts, and
quality time with loved ones during Christmas. Additionally, there’s excitement for holiday
decorations, delicious meals, and a general sense of joy and goodwill. I also enjoy engaging in
festive activities like decorating our house, baking goods, and organizing our family Christmas
party. I also want to try to explore local Christmas markets or maybe volunteer for charitable
activities to spread happiness. And again, the true meaning of Christmas may vary per individual
but we all know that for many it symbolizes the spirit of giving, love and compassion. Now to ask
you, what are your expectations this Christmas?
