1. Do you prefer traveling with your friends, family or alone? What are the benefits of traveling
alone or in a group? Enlarge upon your position.

2. The great advantage of a hotel is that it is a refuge from homelife. How do specialized
organizations rate hotels? Make a list of the hotels that you know and indicate why they are
commercial, resort, convention or residential hotels.

3. What do you know about ecotourism? What places around the world do you connect
ecotourism with? How would you promote Romania as an ecotourism destination?

4. Comment on: “A hotel is many things, for it is life in a capsule” (D. Lundberg). What kind of
image do hotels bring to mind at present? What services do they provide for special guests, many
of them travelling on business purposes?

5. Imagine you work as a tourist guide. Describe the places you have visited so far and explain
the advantages/disadvantages of your job.

6. Many students studying hotel and restaurant management aspire to work abroad. Would you
like to be one of them? What opportunities for such work do you think are created?

7. How important is the hotelier for the success of hotel operations? Talk about hotel staff and
their duties.

8. What accommodation will tomorrow’s architects dream up for clients who dare boldly go
where no tourist has gone before? Where will we eat, drink, play and stay in 2045?

9. What is the best kind of holiday for different ages of people? Children? Teenagers? Adults?
Elderly people? Is there any difference between young tourists’ and adult tourists’ preferences?

10. Tourism development affects the residents of a destination area in several ways. Mention
some of them and bring arguments to support your opinion.
