Spire Decks
Chaotic Change
A spire deck is composed of a number of spire cards, and a single spire hint card. Spire decks
each have a unique, magical theme. Each deck will have its own custom frame so that the cards
from one deck are visually distinct from other decks at a glance. However, these frames should all
share the same skeleton and be easily recognizable as belonging to the same product.
The key feature of a spire deck is that the artwork from one card seamlessly wraps vertically and +
horizontally with the artwork of another card when they are laid on top of or alongside each other 10
in the correct location

Card Name A spire card is exactly 63.5mm x 88.99mm (2.5in x 3.5in). At exactly 36mm (1.43in) above the bottom of
the frame shown on the left by the red dashed line is the wrap location. This is where the art for each
card blends seamlessly with the art from another spire card. This line is not actually directly visible on the
card, so this line is only for demonstration. Spire cards prioritize the artwork of card. Non-art below the
Effect description wrap location is minimized, and below this line the art must stretch to the edge of the frame- there should
not be any card border. The former dimensions and the locations of any other elements in relation to
Wrap Wrap these dimensions cannot be altered. Otherwise, the exact size and locations of the elements are
Effect approximate. Elements which are grey are always present. Other colors represent elements which may
Art or may not be on any given card.
● Card name bar (opaque): A bar that spans the top of the card which contains the card’s name.
Gives On the right hand side there is an optional cost section which has a varying number of resources
in a line. This section does not necessarily have to be visually distinct from the rest of the card
name bar
● Effect description (semi-transparent): A semi-transparent box spans from just below the card
name bar to the wrap location. This section contains the text which describes the effect of the
card. The text box must be transparent enough so that the art underneath the box is still visible,
value
but also opaque enough that the text in the box is still legible.
● Effect (semi-transparent or opaque): A column that hangs below the effect description on the
right hand side of the card. This column contains a number of symbols that remind players of any

ongoing effects the card has. The column will vary in height depending on how many symbols are
necessary, but there will never be more than 3. This box may be a visual continuation of the effect
description, as there will never be an effect column without an effect description. However, there
will be cards that have an effect description but no effect column.
● Wrap (opaque): A pair of markers which indicate where the art wraps. The bottom of these
markers should be aligned with the wrap location.
● Gives (semi-transparent or opaque): A column on the bottom left of the card which contains a

Theme number of resources. The column will vary in height depending on how many symbols are
necessary, but there will never be more than 3.
● Value (semi-transparent or opaque): A small box which contains a single numerical value
ranging from -99 to 99.
● Deck name (opaque): On the back side of the card there is a deck name bar which mirrors the
card name bar on the front
● Theme (opaque): On the back side of the card a there is a theme image which captures the
essence of the spire and matches the visual theme of the card from on the front of the card. The
theme should be distinct, but not too busy.
Exact card
dimensions
Because there is some printing and cutting error when making the cards, we need to add some buffer beyond the expected frame in
case the cut location is inaccurate. Below I included the specifications from the manufacturer. The art must have a 66.5mm x
91.9mm aspect ratio, and at the bottom, left, and right edges the art must wrap at the red line. The red line is inset 1.5 mm on each
side. The vertical wrap location will be 36mm above the bottom red line. Frame art outside the red line is expected to be cut away,
so it should consist of simple colors or textures that provide a buffer in the case of inaccurate cutting.

Theme A spire deck hint card has the same dimensions as a spire card but with a horizontal
Name Name orientation. It shares many of the same design elements as a normal spire card. The
deck name, description, and theme should be identical but with different size. At the
Effect description Effect description bottom of the card there are two miniaturized versions of normal spire cards which
likewise should share the same design elements of normally-sized spire cards. In the

center of the card there is a box which has the same theme as the back of a normal spire
card. This box contains a graphic which shows the distribution of cards in the spire deck.
These cards are either a neutral color (white/gray) or a color which matches the resource
that the card gives (red, blue, brown, pink).
