Social study program is based on K-12 Philippine Basic Education Curriculum Framework that aims to

cultivate skills needed by in the 21st century learner to become a functionally literate, developed
Filipino, with the use of constructivism, collaborative, experiential and contextual learning. This
strategies are used for more meaningful, integrative, value-based, active and challenging learning
journey. It aims to develop the skills of:

Analytic (to be curious and go deeper to understand things)

Creative (to find different ways and means to improve)
Responsible (admitting mistakes and take actions to correct it)
Productive (to manage time wisely0
Cares for environment (to be resourceful and preserve the nature)

in very student that appreciates current and social issues to become civic competent citizens who has
the ability to engage effectively in solving problems in real life situations affecting the local and global
community. The program looks forward that the learners learn and understand the concept
accordingly with the Pillars of learning. It uses a spiral model emphasizing the expansion of learning
coverage in each level better reinforcement and smoother transition of topics and skills.

Araling panlipunan Scope

AP is integrated to classes in history, government, economics, civics, sociology, geography, and

anthropology but its mean focus are in individual, a group or society’s way of living, interaction with
each other and the environment, beliefs, culture to have their own identity and how they function on
the society through research, investigation, critical and creative thinking, wise decision making and
good communication.

Significance

The role of araling panlipunan is promote awareness and knowledge to learners to become civic
competent. Children starting at kindergarten who appreciates and understand the way the world
works gains the ideals, skills and values of being a good citizen and putting this into action. Lastly,
studying this subject gives us clearer vision regarding past and present global issues to be our basis to
build a stronger foundation for decision making in the future.
