A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recites together the formula for general confession.

I Confess to almighty God and to you, my

And, striking their breast, they say:

BROTHERS and sisters:

I consider that the sufferings of this
present time are as nothing compared with
the glory to be revealed for us.
For creation awaits with eager
expectation the revelation of the children
of God; for creation was made subject to
futility, not of its own accord but because
of the one who subjected it, in hope that
creation itself would be set free from
slavery to corruption and share in the
glorious freedom of the children of God.
We know that all creation is groaning
in labor pains even until now; and not only
that, but we ourselves, who have the first
fruits of the Spirit, we also groan within

Profession of Faith
Priest/ All:
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible
and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only
Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages. God from God, Light from
Light, true God from true God, begotten, not
made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us men
and for our salvation he came down from
heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the
Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius
Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day in accordance
with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead and his kingdom will have no
end.

adored and glorified, who has spoken through
the prophets.

them like the dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross once over the bread and the
chalice together, saying:

so that they may become for us the

In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly and
distinctly, as the nature of these words requires.

At the time he was betrayed and

entered willingly into his Passion,
